Mind reader: Unfortunately, I can't tell you what your doctor is thinking. It is possible if you have a new onset herpes infection that the blood tests will not come back positive yet. If it does not go away see a gyn or dermatologist ...Read more

If you have been monogamous, the same sex partner, it may not be necessary to take it. Have them tested and discuss with your doctor. If you are abstinent, no, you don't need to take it, realizing you could have an outbreak. ...Read more

It only tells you whether you have herpes in your body. If you wait for the result to come back, it will be too late to benefit from treatment for that episode. ...Read more

Low risk: By being on Valtrex (valacyclovir) and using condoms, you're greatly lowering the risk. You can't do much more than that short of abstinence.
