Check the culture: If you were diagnosed with a uti, check and see if they sent a urine culture. Sometimes when people prescribe antibiotics, the bacteria causing the infection can be resistant to them. The culture will be able to tell what kind of bacteria, and whether or not it is sensitive to a particular antibiotic. If you were on an antibiotic you should get checked again soon. See your gyn or a urologist. ...Read more

No such thing: There is no such thing as a "minor" urinary tract infection. Go to an old cemetery -- many of the women of your age are there because of uti's. Can a UTI cause nausea/ dizziness? What about a kidney infection? An abdominal ultrasound showed normal.

UTI: Utis really should not cause anything but bladder symptoms. If you are feeling worse after correct antibiotic course, see your pmd. This could mean your infection has ascended (if you have stones), or bladder infection not sensitive to the antibiotic. Sometimes a peri-nephron abcess can form, but this is unlikely. See your pmd for exam and further testing if you still feel badly. ...Read more

I have had mucus and a little bit of blood for the past couple days also with a stomach ache. I had a UTI could that be a result of the uti?

In this circumstance, on occasion, an opportunistic bacteria, c.Difficile, can infect the colon. Its best to mention your symptoms to your treating doctor--he may want a stool specimen to check and to examine you. Never ignore bleeding from the GI tract. ...Read more

My daughter just got over a UTI and have finished her antibiotics. Today she's complaining about stomach ache and her urine is a fluorescent yellow.

UTI: Usually you have 2/3 symptoms to diagnose a UTI, dysuria or burning, peeing often or feeling like you need to pee often. A positive urine culture is helpful. Abdominal pain is not specific and can represent something else. The bright yellow urine is related to something she ingested, maybe the antibiotics. Have her checked, sounds like a new problem. All the best. ...Read more
