Can Ultrasound Be A Month Wrong
An ultraound, also known as a sonogram, is a painless and relatively inexpensive imaging test that utilizes sound waves instead of ionizing radiation. There are no side effects. Ultrasound can give us two-dimensional, and in some applications three-dimensional, images of structures and organs in virtually any part of the body. In addition to diagnostic uses, such as evaluating abnormalities in the abdomen, pelvis, and breast, ultrasounds are commonly used to guide needle and catheter placement in a variety of surgical ...Read more

Experiencing abnormal vaginal bleeding for almost a month. I had an ultrasound done, everything turned out fine. What's wrong with me!
Cannot diagnose: You were hopefully seen by a gynecologist. Ultrasound is not the only modality that can be used for diagnosis. Good luck. ...Read more
Lower left ovary is killing me. Had an ultrasound months ago told everything was fine. Intestines are working fine no signs anything there is wrong.?
Follow up: If you had an imaging study that did not answer the question, it either is not something that can be answered by that imaging study, or is not something that will be identified by imaging. Ultrasound is only one type of imaging test. CT scan may be helpful if your doctor thinks that it will assist him/her. ...Read more
Why won't my gynecologist do a ultrasound before 5 or 6 months, or blood hcg? They said they only will earlier if something seems wrong.
Ask your OB: Ultrasounds can be very helpful in pregnancy when done properly. An early ultrasound done at 7-8 weeks will help establish your due date and reassure us that the fetus is starting to develop normally. Later ultrasounds will help evaluate normal growth and development. Blood HCG testing is normally done when there is significant concern about miscarriage. ...Read more

Four months ago total and direct bilirubin was elevated. Now normal. Fibroscan ultrasound and CT found nothing wrong with liver. What was it???
Not sure.: And unless it recurs, you'll probably never figure it out. Sometimes that pattern of abnormal liver tests can occur when someone passes a gallstone. There could be many reasons other than that, however, and no further testing is necessary as long as the labs have returned to normal. Good luck. ...Read more

There is absolutely a chance that an ultrasound could show the incorrect gender. Even with the best equipment and the most
experienced ultrasound technologist, errors can be made. An ultrasound is most accurate in determining the gender at approximately 20 weeks gestation. Occasionally, the ultrasound technologist confuses the umbilical cord with a penis and declares the baby boy. The more common error is made when the ultrasound technologist fails to identify a penis and determines that the baby is a girl. Sometimes if the baby's thighs are crossed, determining the genital anatomy is nearly impossible. However, if an experienced ultrasound technologist gets a good view of the anatomy they will be a right nine times out of ten. ...Read more

How accurate are 12 week ultrasounds with gender? They were incorrect with my last child so just want to know if they are most likely wrong again?
Not very accurate: The accuracy will vary depending on the experience of the sonographer and the ability to locate the genital area on ultrasound. In one study: at 12 weeks, when the genital area was successfully visualized, gender identification was correct 92% of the time. At 13 weeks it was correct 98% of the time. **In this study a very experienced physician, not a technician, did the studies. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Yes: Ultrasound is what we call an operator dependent modality. That is, the skill of the people doing ; reading the scan determines the adequacy of the interpretation if a picture does not clearly show the gender, mistakes will be made. Sometimes a loop of cord will be confused with a scrotum. My rule was always, "if you're not sure of the gender, say nothing! " that's how I was always right. :-). ...Read more
