Can Ultrasound Be A Month Wrong
What can a transvaginal ultrasound see at only 8dp? Just corpus leutum? can it tell I ovulated and could possibly be pregnant?
An ultraound, also known as a sonogram, is a painless and relatively inexpensive imaging test that utilizes sound waves instead of ionizing radiation. There are no side effects. Ultrasound can give us two-dimensional, and in some applications three-dimensional, images of structures and organs in virtually any part of the body. In addition to diagnostic uses, such as evaluating abnormalities in the abdomen, pelvis, and breast, ultrasounds are commonly used to guide needle and catheter placement in a variety of surgical ...Read more
My ovaries are detected to be polycystic after a vaginal ultrasound. Could it be serious, could i be diabetic?
Polycystic is: An overused term that tends to cause patients anxiety. Most "cysts" on the ovaries are normal ovarian follicles. They get called "cysts" when they get large. Even then these simple cysts are not cancerous and come and go. So, overwhelmingly there is nothing to worry about. Diabetes may be associated with polycystic ovary syndrome but this diagnosis needs hormonal and physical exam findings. ...Read more
Does a pelvic ultrasound have to be transvaginal to show a 13 weeks pregnancy? Or can it be a normal pelvic ultrasound
Depends: If your uterus is tilted backwards and your doctor wishes to do a detailed anatomy look specially at the nuchal translucency area, than a transvaginal ultrasound will give more details. If it is just to check heart beat or placenta or just of remeasuring growth than a normal pelvic ultrasound should suffice. Discuss with your doctor. Good Luck and have an easy pregnancy and childbirth. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My dating ultrasound was not consistent with my lmp. It dated me a week further than I should be. What could be the cause of this?
LMP dating vs US: Both methods have some error. Us dating is most accurate between 8 and 13 weeks using the crown rump length of the fetus. 1 week difference is not a big deal at this stage. Making sure interval growth is appropriate at your doctor checkups and the fetal anatomy ultrasound is what we all want to see. ...Read more
Had an ultrasound that dated me at 13+3 is there anyway it could be wrong and I could be 17/18 weeks?
Nope: If it was done by a OB or certified ultrasonographer and read by a radiologist as apposed to done at the mall, there is no way it is off by 4-5 weeks. The margin of error at the time you had it is around 7 days. ...Read more

Can a pregnancy ultrasound miss a twin? I had an early (8 weeks) ultrasound and the doctor said she couldn't rule out twins at this point. Could another baby really be "hiding"? Only one heartbeat detected, so i don't know what to expect.
Possible twins: The fetus is "really small" at 8 weeks, and another could be hiding. Usually they won't say something like that unless there is some hint at twins though, unless it's really a thing they always add to protect themselves. I'd ask why they said that. If it's standard language, don't worry about it. Otherwise, there might be something they were looking at. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I got my ultrasound done at 10 weeks. Is it possible that a ultrasound that early can be off by two weeks?
Which Way? : No way a 10 week fetus would be confused with an 8 or 12 week fetus. Your true dates are closer to the ultrasound value than your estimate from your lmp dates. ...Read more
