Depends: I generally treat patients with high BP if his or her average pressure is greater than 140/90. If someone is having temporary stress, for example going through a divorce, I rarely treat high BP that develops during that time, but rather wait for the stress to abate. Consider stress: Blood glu can fluctuate in diabetics. If you did not eat, high glu could be because your (short-acting) Insulin is wearing off, or it could be from other hormones. Stress releases adrenaline, which raises blood glu. Before you wake, circadian hormones (cortisol, growth hormone) raise your blood glu. Work with your doctor.
