Can I have an explanation on how the gastric bypass surgery is performed?

Can I have an explanation on how the gastric bypass surgery is performed?

Gastric Bypass: Make the stomach smaller so you cannot eat as much. Usually by separating the top portion of the stomach from the rest. Bypassing some of the small bowel so you have limited absorption capabilities downstream. A piece of small bowel is then hooked up to the new smaller gastric pouch to allow food to continue downstream. Can be done with open surgery or laparoscopic surgery. ...Read more

Gastric bypass safe: The the bypass is the gold standard for weight loss operations. It's been around for over 50 yrs and is a proven operation. It is the best in terms of overall weight loss. I how are the gastric bypass surgery and everytime I eat I feel like my chest is hurting?

Get an endoscopy: A few things can cause upper chest or abdominal pain several years after a bypass. A marginal ulcer can occur at the anastomosis. The symptoms would occur more frequently after meals. Pain is usually the main symptom. A stricture could also occur, which would typically result from an ulcer. Have your symptoms evaluated with an upper scope. In the meantime use an OTC med like Prilosec or Nexium (esomeprazole). ...Read more

Is sleeve gatrectomy surgery safer as compared to the gastric bypass surgery?

Is sleeve gatrectomy surgery safer as compared to the gastric bypass surgery?

Sleeve gastrectomy: That's a common misconception by patients. The gastric bypass is a more complicated operation than a sleeve, but the risk of a leak is the same for either operation. In addition, if a leak occurs, it is much harder to control in a sleeve than in a bypass. There are many other pros/cons for each, but the bottom line is that the risk is about equal. For diabetes and heartburn/reflux, bypass is best. ...Read more

Weight loss: You may have lost weight on this diet and it may have worked for you! I don't think it is healthy, because you are missing out on nutrients, because you are eating such low volume of food. Unless you are taking some high powered organic, food supplements, I believe, long term side effects would be hair loss, brittle nails, saggy skin. Rethink this concept. Can you tell me if I could get gastric bypass surgery at 16?

16yo gastric bypass: Can you? Yes. Should you? That will take a lot of discussion to determine. You should only be evaluated for gastric bypass surgery at place that has an adolescent weight loss surgery program. Very few places around the country have that. The work up process for a 16yo is much different than an adult. Make sure you go to a surgeon that has done thousands of gastric bypasses. Experience counts. ...Read more

Big pouch, outflow: The pouch does not usually stretch out. Above picture is the outflow from the pouch. When it is this big, some narrowing will help. Sclerotherapy is a simple 15 min endoscopic option that we have found to be helpful to reduce outflow size and help people stay full longer. Check out the youtube video: http://m.Youtube. Com/?
