Can. U. Get. Headaches. After. Taking. Inhalers?

Inhaler headache: Headache after your inhaler can be from vascular dilation and blood flow changes in the central nervous system. Non-steroidals like over the counter Ibuprofen and naprosyn (naproxen) can be helpful for this. They might also reduce your need for asthma inhalers. Be mindful that their principal side effect is stomach acidity so you might need an antiacid type medication simultaneously.

Has anyone ever had bad headaches after using albuterol inhalers?

Has anyone ever had bad headaches after using albuterol inhalers?

Yes: It is not an uncommon side-effect. I'm not certain of the mechanism, but albuterol can increase the strength of heart contractions and also cause blood vessels to dilate. I expect that this may cause a rise in cranial pressure and be the cause of pain in some patients.

I have bad chest pain, and my upper back behind my ribs are hurting. Small headache too. I took sinus medicine, not working. Took my rescue inhaler to?

Chest & back pain: This could be all related to muscle aches. Try some tylenol (acetaminophen) & hot shower as that can help relax muscles. Avoid heavy lifting. You can use topical heating pads available OTC. Check if you have a temp! If not better, go & see your PCP. If you have any heart problems, you have to seek medical attention NOW.

Some water went down my windpipe and am coughing. Afraid of secondary drowning but I can breathe ok now. Will my asthma inhaler help if im still wheezing after awhile? Also getting a headache that doesn't mean water is on my brain does it?

Water in trachea: The water in your wind pipe (trachea) will not drown you but will cause coughing at the time amid could transiently aggravate your asthma so the use of your inhaler in this setting would be helpful. The headache does not mean water on the brain. The headache is likely from the coughing and will pass. You will be ok.

Would need an exam..: To answer your question an exam and more history would be needed. At the very least it sounds like you have a viral URI or allergies. If you are requiring your albuterol more than every 4-6 hours or the symptoms are persisting or getting worse at all, make an appointment to be seen or a consult appointment here on healthtap to better determine if an in person doctor visit is needed.

This sounds like: "modified" Influenza (the type not "covered" by this years vaccine but some cross immunity from previous Flue Shots! Asthmatic bronchitis appears to be a common complication of this Influenza virus!! Suggest your DFoctor may agree to Prescribe something on the phone. (Or Health Tap Prime may be an idea for you) Hope this helps Dr Z

Sometimes I don't eat for a while and I get headaches. Does taking Excedrin help?

Sometimes I don't eat for a while and I get headaches. Does taking Excedrin help?

Hunger headache?: Hunger headaches are muscle tension/low blood sugar. Hunger causes your scalp muscles to tighten. Skipping meals, sleeping later than usual or delaying meals or snacks may result in a drop in your blood sugar levels. When your blood sugar drops, your body releases hormones to counter low glucose levels, which can trigger a headache excedrin may help but work on that lifestyle.

I have been taking Gralise for a month and 900mg for two weeks and I'm still get headaches. What should I do?

I have been taking Gralise for a month and 900mg for two weeks and I'm still get headaches. What should I do?

Gralise: Is a well tolerated once a day long acting form of Gabapentin. (Neurontin) It can be quite helpful in the management of neuropathic pain and often works for radicular pain. Occasionally it can be used like other anticonvulsants for migraine management. I suggest you let your doctor know you are still having headaches. Headache is usually approached as a paroxysmal disorder. (Not pain disorder)

See neurologist: You will to see a neurologist who may consider getting a brain ct or MRI on you to assess your headaches. The fact that it gets worse with positional changes bothers me.

Headache remedies: Rest, relax, close your eyes while either lying down or sitting in a dark room. Ice packs or heat-steamy shower or warm bath. A massage with or without pressure point focus on painful areas of your head. Light exercise can release endorphins (body's natural painkillers). Aromatherapy (eucalyptus, pepermint, sandlewood, lavender) is also very popular.

Possible: Hypothyroidism can cause headaches. The only way to know is to get a blood draw to find out if you are truly hypothyroid. If thyroid level is normal, then the thyroid is not causing the headaches.
