When can babies move to fformula as 3 week grandaughter is hungry baby and wakes regularly for feeds?

See below: There is no difference in the calories provided by formula and breast milk. 3 week old babies should be feeding around every 3 hours. And they should be waking at night for feeding. There is no reason to switch to formula. ...Read more

I'm 35 weeks pregnant with twins. Was having pretty strong contractions sitting in my chair so I went and laid down and they stopped. Babies moved all night long which they don't typically do. Am I getting closer to labor?

No: Babies move differently at different times when in utero. You may notice more movement at night or when you lay down. They can even get hiccups. Don't worry, as long as she is moving everything is fine. ...Read more

Do babies in utero who are mentally handicap or brain damaged, still kick and move like a healthy baby?

No way to tell: In the early 80's nelson et al.Published an interesting analysis from the national collaborative perinatal project (50 k births) that found that the majority of kids with a CP DX at 7 yrs had been born after a normal p/l/d with normal apgar scores. This points out how hard it is to be sure what goes on during pregnancy. The best you can do is keep healthy and avoid risks when you can. ...Read more

My infant won't make a bowl movement unless I stick a thermometer in her rectum and move it around. Is this normal? How do I get her to go on her own?

My infant won't make a bowl movement unless I stick a thermometer in her rectum and move it around. Is this normal? How do I get her to go on her own?

Bowel Movements: She will go on her own when she is ready to go. The biggest mistake we as parents make is thinking our babies have to go everyday. If you keep stimulating her with the thermometer, she will get to the point she will only go when she has that stimulus. So stop doing that. Some babies go multiple times a day, some go everyday, some go once a week. Adults do that too. Be patient. ...Read more

Sleep/infant: Babies develop sleep patterns as their brain and neural center mature. Most infants will sleep through the night by age 6 months. Premature infants may do so at a later age. It is important to ensure that your baby sleep on his back, is not in pain, hungry or ill. If the baby just fussy, try allowing the infant to soothe himself to sleep for 10 minutes. Please follow up with your M.D. ...Read more

Why do babies go to a separate place when being born for shots?Nd is not because the mother can't handle it when a few weeks u watch your baby get shots

No good reason: Your pediatrician may prefer to examine and treat the baby elsewhere. But, you are the mother! if you don't want the baby to leave you to get shots, you have every right to tell them that you want your baby to stay with you. Having surgery, or having to go to the intensive care unit is really the only reason your baby would need to leave your side. ...Read more
