Have been given a good report by an "ent"& an internist. I have thyroid disease (tk levo) & HPV (tk aldara). Why do I still have a chronic sore throat?

Combination of thing: A few thoughts- although you may not have had anything obvious on ENT exam you may still have subclinical gerd, post nasal drip, allergy or even irritant. I would review your hx to see if there is anything we are missing - try trials of appropriate meds including standard anti gerd, anti drip and anti allergy. At the end of the day this might be a combo of things. ...Read more

Why is my neck and back hurting from strep throat?

Myalgias: Various infections: strep, flu, mono to name a few, cause a lot of inflammation and release of cytokines (inflammatory chemicals) that can cause our bodies/muscles to feel achy while we are sick. The aches are just part of the symptoms. If your neck is hurting so much that you can't move your head without extreme pain then it could be something worse and would require a visit to the docs ASAP. ...Read more

Hi, I have strep throat ( 7 days). My neck and lower part of my head has been stiff the whole time. I have not had a fever at all. menengitis?

Not likely: though it is not likely, if you present to the ER, you might get a lumbar puncture to find out if you have meningitis. Since you have had this stiffness for 7 days and you don't have headache, fever, or change in your mental state, I doubt it's something to worry about. ...Read more

Is it normal for strep throat pain to spread to neck and head. I am on cephalexin for three days but this pain has not still gone away. ?

Went to ER yesterday thought tetnus due to cut, diagnosed with strep this morning stiff jaw/neck is this due to the strep throat?

Probably so...: Tetanus is a state of prolonged, severe muscle contraction caused by a neurotoxin produced by bacterium clostridium tetani--it is not that common. Since you were diagnosed with strep, it is likely that this condition is causing some sensation of stiffness to neck/saw. Many people do feel achy, chills, some headache with this infection. Motrin/tylenol may help. If worsen, call your doc. Good luck. ...Read more
