My skin itches so much lately I can make myself bleed. My family has a history of thyroid disease. I haven't been tested though. Should I be worried?
No but: Get labs ; tsh[thyoid stimulating hormone], cbc, cmp, hepatitis panel. Try diphenhydramine[benadryl] 25-50 mg 2-3x/day, might make you sleepy or lesssedating one in daytime like claritin, zyrtec, allegra. skin creams or petroleum jelly for dry skin and hydrocortisone cream 10% for itchy arease up to 2 weeks/month.
