Can They Do Ultrasound Of The Kidneys When They Do My Ob Scan
The sonogram is a test that looks at body organs with no radiation. It uses sound waves and can give us a 2 dimensional view of organs such as the kidney, liver, heart, and lungs. It can define spaces that are either solid or full of fluid. I can also guide large needles into an organ or near the spine, and can help define the area being cut open. Its a ...Read more
My ob asked for 5 ultrasounds
Anomaly scan level 2
Colour Doppler scan
Are they necessary can they be harmful?
No: There has been no convincing evidence that ultrasounds are harmful to a developing fetus. If your OB thinks they are necessary, it is a good idea to follow their advice. Hope this helps! ...Read more
At my 20 week ultrasound scan they said they were unable to see the left kidney, do they need to repeat it or do another test?
Repeat post partum: The absence of one kidney is entirely compatible with good health. It is possible that another scan will show normal anatomy. After delivery a repeat scan to confirm the first is a good idea, couple this with a check of your overall kidney health and a discussion of risks to the kidneys from lifestyle and disease states, with your physician. ...Read more
I had a ultrasound of my bladder and kidneys and the report said "Unremarkable Scan" but it said "under-distended bladder" so would they see that ok?
It depends: How under distended the bladder was and what your clinician was looking for. If your doc was looking for things like bladder outlet obstruction, an undistended bladder pretty much rules that out. If they are looking for things like bladder wall thickening, a collapsed bladder might make that impossible to see. But if the bladder is at least partially distended, usually the scan is ok. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I am 22 weeks months carrying. During ultrasound scan. Report show baby's kidneys have mild pyelectasia measuring 4to 5 mm. Pls explain what it means?
Usually nothing: It means that there is a little urine trapped in the kidney. It has a very low association with downs syndrome. You should get a second trimester screening test but i wouldn't be worried. You should also get a followup scan in 3rd trimester to make sure the kidneys look okay but the vast majority of the time, they are. I would not lose any sleep of this! good luck with the rest of your pregnancy. ...Read more
While ultrasound scan it was found, there is a 6*4*3.5 cyst from lower pole in my right kidney and a simple cyst at midpole in left kidney which is 2 cm,is there anything to worry doctor please help me out?
See below. : If both are simple cysts (no internal echoes) there should be nothing to worry about. However keep in mind that the study is operator dependent, and may vary with their expertise. Therefore a couple of follow ups may give you more comfort. These can be done at 6mos and 1-1 1/2 yrs. you should talk to your doctor in reference to this, and the U/S lab expertise with renal U/S. ...Read more
My ultrasound scan result shows two midpole microliths measuring 2.8 & 3.6mm both in left kidney.will it pass by itself while urinating?
Pain on left kidney. Ct scan shows nothing and ultrasound shows mild hydronephrosis. What would cause this?
UPJ stenosis: Ultrasound may detect early obstruction better than ct, and sometime the other way around. It depends. Anyway, left flank pain with mild hydronephrosis, and no stone is usually due to a narrowing of the joint between the ureter (pipe to the bladder) and the renal pelvis (holding area for urine). If there is a mild or partial "blockage" that could explain everything. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
