Can Irritable uterus make me have pre mature labor? I'm 32 weeks pregnant

Can Irritable uterus make me have pre mature labor? I'm 32 weeks pregnant

No: An irritable uterus is one that can be contracting, but is not the same as preterm labor. Preterm labor means the cervix is opening and that is threatening for you and the baby. Preterm contractions are when the uterus contracts but the cervix doesn't open. It can be VERY hard to distinguish the 2 from patient perspective (I had them same in my pregnancy). See doctor or L&D! if worried though! ...Read more

22 weeks pregnant, emergent cerclage at 21 weeks.Almost whole pregnancy when i change positions i often feel tightening.problm?is it irritable uterus?

Close monitoring: An emergency cerclage is an extremely high risk procedure. Very close monitoring by your doctor is warranted. Please clarify the plan of care with your Obgyn as to how you should proceed. Often these cases are managed with bedrest at home or in the hospital. Serial sonographic cervical lengths are done. Sometimes medications are used to calm the uterus. ...Read more

What is an irritable uterus and how its contractions are different from Braxton Hicks contractions? Can either efface or dilate my cervix? I'm 33w5d.

Same contractions: Braxton Hicks contractions indicate the level of sensitivity(irritability) of the uterus to the agent(oxytocin) that can cause labor. The difference is the frequency, intervals, and duration of the contractions that will eventually be progressive enough to produce changes in the cervix-AKA active labor. ...Read more

30 weeks pregnant with 2nd baby. Loose stools for 2 weeks and feel like I need to go all the time. Also have irritable uterus should I be concerned?

Taking care w/ baby: Given that you have a baby-on-board, I would be proactive about getting you treated. You should go to the doc and get a diagnosis for the diarrheal illness. With some history, exam and lab tests, there should be some 'road map' to follow. Pregnancy causes your immune system to weaken, and you don't want things to get out of hand. I hope you can get seen TODAY. Take care. ...Read more

5 more weeks: it is not uncommon for attraction to begin starting at 32 weeks and they may not be a true sign of labor, rather the might just be practice contractions or whatare called Braxton Hicks contractions. Just because you lose some mucus, does not mean you will go into labor because your cervix will keep on creating mucus. call the hospital though, for regular painful contractions or loss of fluid. ...Read more

I'm 37 weeks today and i'm dilated 2-3 cm. Should my doctor induce me already?

Actually not needed: For someone who is multi-gravida ("mommy of 3"), you can go from 2-3 cm to fully dilated in a matter of hours, so i would just be patient. As long as the baby is safe and good heart tones and the stress test is normal, just sit back and let nature take its course at 37 weeks..... ...Read more
