Can Temazepam Get You High
My friend is trying to get high on temazepam. Is it actually possible or would he just fall asleep?
Pretty much sleep.:
It's a sedative like valium or alprazolam. Some people like the sedation. There is a real risk of serious withdrawal including seizures if it is taken chronically. Feeling good about being sleepy is subjective.
It is one of the most lied about medications with patients reporting less than 20% of the amount of the drug they actually bought from the pharmacy let alone bought from the street. ...Read more
Temazepam (restoril) -- a benzodiazepine -- is a sedative/hypnotic used for the short-term (7-10 days) treatment of insomnia. It helps you fall asleep faster, decreases the # of times you awaken during the night, & gives you longer periods of uninterrupted sleep. It produces a calming effect. Take 30 min before bedtime. To avoid temporary memory loss, be sure to get 7-8 hrs ...Read more
Yes: The usual dose of Restoril (temazepam) is 15-30 mg. 150 mg is a potential overdose. While benzodiazepines alone rarely cause fatal overdose, it can cause people to sleep for prolonged periods of time, which itself can cause damage to organs (sleeping in one position causes pressure on skin and muscle, and potentially even underlying organs). More dangerous if combined with alcohol or other drugs. ...Read more
Half live 8.8 hr: The hall live is 8.8 hr that menas it takes this time to eliminare half the dose. So couple of days. The higher the dose used the longer it takes. The longer the use the longer it might take. Good luck. Should be weening down under a physician supervision. ...Read more
Not comparable: Your question doesn't make sense on 2 levels. First, we'd need to know the mg of xanax (alprazolam) we're comparing to temazepam. More important, "highs" from different drugs are not comparable. Although both are benzodiazepines, temazepam is very sedating, Alprazolam isn't. They'll never be "equal." and neither is safe to take to get high. ...Read more
As little as 1-2 wks: Can happen actually quite quickly. If using daily, as little as 1-2 weeks can make you become dependent on the medication. If used less frequently may take 1-2 months. ...Read more
Probably not: At least not in the usual doses. The high tolerance and use of xanax, (alprazolam) a notoriously short-acting drug where when it wears off, worse insomnia occurs, may be the cause of your sleep problems. Adding more drugs to problems being caused by drugs is a sure way to enter a vicious cycle of escalating doses, escalating dependency, increasing side effects and problems with addiction and its complications. ...Read more
Having a spinal tap and I'm pretty scared and have high anxiety. I take Temazapam15mg for sleep. Can I take Valium with Temazepam before the procedure?
Buck up, jazZ: Spinal tap is the most minor of minor procedures. Nothing to be scared of. Valium is a brand name of the generic drug diazepam. Sound similar to temazepam? That's because both are benzodiazepines. You'd be taking 2 benzodiazepines & risking oversedation & respiratory depression. Knowledge is power. Arm yourself, i.e., do your homework: empowering knowledge is out there. ...Read more
Hi I have bpd2 and take saphris (asenapine) 10mg, 30mg temazepam mad 15mg zopliclone to sleep. Still cannot get a full nights sleep. Now what?
I would: , if you were my patient, stop the temazepam and zopiclone and either raise the saphris (asenapine) to 15 mg at bedtime, or keep it at 10mg and start trazodone at 50 mg, gradually increasing by 50 mg every other day until you were sleeping 8 hours a night without feeling hungover. Please discuss with your psychiatrist. ...Read more
My scripts for hydrocodone, temazepam, carisoprodol, and clonazepam stopped because of a heroin od. Any chance to get them back?
You probably signed an opioid agreement, promising not to misuse drugs prescribed to you or use other drugs that weren't.
You did it anyway. That's a sign of addiction so more addictive meds aren't going to help that problem. See a doctor for detox and enter rehab or join na... Or you can keep using and end up dead or in jail. As always, it's your choice. ...Read more
Which benzodiazepine is best to get me in the dentist? Temazepam or diazepam? Not been in 7yrs and read poor dental can allow things in bloodstream
Depends on: Dose and personal reaction to the meds, but diazepam is more commonly used for issues such as this as it effects anixety with slightly less sedating effects (although it will cause sedation as well). Poor dental care can lead to increased systemic inflammation and possible seeding of bacteria, you are right. So definitely get in to see dentist. It will be hard, but you can do it! ...Read more
I have pernicious anemia and was just told my gastrin levels were extremely high. I also take prilosec, lexapro, (escitalopram) restoril, ativan, and lithium.?
Prilosec!: Prilosec can cause elevated gastronomic levels. Could be that. There are other causes but this drug is a culprit to cause this. ...Read more
No: That is an exceptionally high dose. You might use it provided it was in conjunction with the prescribing doctor, who would presumably see some rare circumstance; but otherwise it would be exceedingly unwise. ...Read more
For what?: The usual dose of temazepam is 7.5 to 30 mg at bedtime, to treat insomnia short term. So 75 mg is 2.5 times the highest recommended dose. There might be other reasons such a high dose is used, but taking this much might indicate an addiction, too. It depends on the situation. Temazepam is not approved for long-term treatment of insomnia. ...Read more
Be more sedating: Than 30mg, have a greater chance of leaving you hungover the next day because of its long half life and it can worsen sleep apnea if you have that. In fact, if you have untreated central sleep apnea it could make you stop breathing, and that means the long dirt nap if the apnea lasts long enough. Think of reggie white who died in is sleep of apnea alone, probably without the assistance of meds. ...Read more

Caution: More important than absolute dose of restoril, (temazepam) which shouldn't exceed 30 mg at night, are frequency and duration of use. With daily use for over a month you can become tolerant to its benefits for sleep and anxiety, but experience withdrawal if you don't take it, so you use it to avoid withdrawal even though it no longer helps. Avoid using more than 4 nights/week; try to use for under 3 months. ...Read more
More important, why?: 60 mg Restoril (temazepam) is hefty dose; and raises hte question why so much? Taken over time resistance/tolerance can occur, leading to escalating doses. Which cannot be continued indefinitely. There are other options for most people. There are recent findings that all meds in this general class, including Alprazolam, taken over a decade can have subtle long term consequences. Discuss with your md.. ...Read more

Hopefully not: If this was a one time thing, you should be ok - perhaps very drowsy. Do not continue to use that dose unless a Dr insists and will be there to monitor you. The usual max dose is 30 mg. That's not meant for long-term use since it stops being effective and too much can kill people. Don't drink alcohol with it either! ...Read more

Very drowsy: In my practice, the average dose of Restoril (temazepam) is 15 - 30 mgs at bedtime. A lot also depends on what other medications you are taking. ...Read more
