Can teething cause on and off fevers in a 10 month old ? And diaherra?

Can teething cause on and off fevers in a 10 month old ? And diaherra?

Maybe: The average 10mo is both acquiring teeth & sticking his/her hands in their mouth covered with new germs from their surroundings.Whether this is teeth or low grade viral illness is hard to say. I expect about 3 diarrheal illnesses & 5-7 respiratory viruses/yr at this stage. Since we can't fix either i think we blame teeth a bit more than they really deserve. ...Read more

When toddlers are cutting teeth can it make them have diaherra and fever?

When toddlers are cutting teeth can it make them have diaherra and fever?

See below: Some believe that cutting teeth can cause fevers where others do not. I personally believe that fevers can occur due to a flush of bacteria into the blood stream with the tooth pushing through. As for diarrhea, it can occur too. ...Read more

My 10 month old son has red bumps on his cheeks and when i touch them they are warm, he is teething could that be the cause?

My 10 month old son has red bumps on his cheeks and when i touch them they are warm, he is teething could that be the cause?

Doubtful: While teething may cause a bit of irritability and very low grade temperature, unless the bumps are from the excessive drooling (and this is usually right around the mouth), bumps on cheeks and other places would not be attributable to teething. It may be a little heat rash, irritation from something that contacted his cheeks (detergents, soaps, perfumes, etc). Would just keep an eye on things. ...Read more

10 month old had 2 uti's , had symptoms for #3 in less 2 months.. On meds. Culture neg, waiting to do tests could teething cause high white blood cells?

No: Teething does not cause an elevation of your white blood cell count. An elevated WBC count a this age is almost always due to an infection somewhere, and with a history of uti's already i would be looking in this area. It could be a kidney abcess, blood infection, or infection totally somewhere else in the body. There are other more rare causes of elevated wbc's, but teething is not one of them. ...Read more

Son is 9 month old and is suffering from fever since 3 days with a temperature of 100.4 he is teething. At times temperature is normal but then some t?

Minimal fever: If the temperature seldom rises past this level it can certainly be teeth or a minor viral illness. As long as the kid is feeding okay and otherwise acts well you can monitor this at home. ...Read more

Why would my 7 month old get a fever of 103.0? He has hydocephalus and is teething his shunt was put in 2 months ago.

Teething : Teething and the symptoms attributed to it are a common concern for parents. Lots of studies have looked at this and shown the most common symptoms of teething to be: -increased biting -drooling -gum-rubbing -sucking -irritability -wakefulness -ear rubbing -facial rash -decreased appetite for solid foods -slightly elevated temperature (but still under 100.4f orally) any temperature over 100.4f orally is more likely to be caused by illness, not teething. Since your child has a shunt, it is important that you call your child's doctor with any fever because a shunt infection is an emergency. ...Read more

My 3 month old has a fever of 104 and i can't bring it down, i think he is teething but should I take him to the emergency room? I

Yes: Your child's fever may not necessarily be related to teething and dehydration is a serious situation for anyone under 6 months of age. You child is also very early on the teething time frame- i would strongly encourage you to follow-up with the er and your pediatrician. ...Read more

My almost 5 month old ebf baby has a 100.8 fever. Been a little fussy today but nothing else going on. Could it be teething or should I take him in?

What other sx ?: Fever @ a 100.8 level is common in infants with a wide variety of minor and some significant illnesses. I find tylenol (acetaminophen) can give comfort & take a degree off a temp, but any resolution will be the illness going thru its cycles. If baby is playing some & taking fluids well enough to wet every 6hrs, u may be able to ride this out at home. If quiet, taking poorly etc. Call in & or see the dr. ...Read more

My almost 6 month old has a fever of 102.3. Can he run fevers with teething? He has no other symptoms and is not fussy at all.

My almost 6 month old has a fever of 102.3. Can he run fevers with teething? He has no other symptoms and is not fussy at all.

Due for an illness: I don't accept fever >101 as teething & am not sure it causes much stress in most infants. By 4mo the protective antibodies passed to baby during pregnancy have warn off & a kid is due for some random viral illnesses. If he is drinking well & wetting a diaper every 4-6h & playful for periods during the day, you may be able to monitor the situation at home.If he starts to act sickly, have him seen. ...Read more

My 10 month old baby. Poo 5 to 6 times in a day with foul smell also his poo is little watery and starchy,he is teething also.what food sud I give?

BRAT diet: We generally recommend the 'BRAT' diet for people with diarrhea, as it contains foods which help bind the stools. Things like Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast, plain chicken, pastas, etc. Electrolyte solutions such as Pedialyte help prevent dehydration and are better than sugary sodas or juices, which can make diarrhea worse. Some people need to avoid dairy while they are having loose stools. ...Read more

10 month old refuses to eat.(spoon or fingers)She only drinks from her bottle. She is teething but it's never been an issue when eating. What do I do?

Give her a few days: to come around. As long as she is taking the bottle, she is getting fluids and nourishment. These current teeth may be uncomfortable and the bottle is comforting. Limit juice to a maximum of 4 oz, limit milk/formula to 32 oz and offer unlimited water. Keep offering small amounts of solids. In a few days, she will become interested again. ...Read more

13 month old has 100.5 fever and no other symptoms. She has been teething but teeth already came through. What can it be?

Variety of germs: The average 13mo will have 5-7 upper respiratory viruses of variable intensity/year. They will also have a couple of gut viruses & occasional ear infections or other issues.Since kids teethe during the same period the teeth are given the blame for many minor illnesses. As long as your kid is playful & taking fluids well you can let this run it's course. If the kid acts sickly an eval is worthwhile. ...Read more
