More sensitive: The acidity of the acid reflux and just possibly a hyperactive gag reflex may be creating your problems. Sometimes it is good to swish your mouth with very cold water or a strong mouth rinse prior to brushing, especially when brushing your tongue. Probably a virus: At 8 1/2 months old they teeth still. When teething their resistance is down and they are more prone to pick up illnesses, especially viruses. Without other symptoms at this time it probably is a virus. If you are worried there is never harm in getting baby checked by your doctor. Fevers in that range are common for babies that age with most viral infections but should break in 3-5 days. ...Read more

Teething: Not sure of hyland products, but a pacifier, ortho, should help due to positive pressure in the bite, and a refrigerated pacifier will ease the pain due the soothing effect of cold on pain due to the easing of inflammation. Softer food for the child will also help. No too warm food. If the child is acting especially uncomfortable with certain foods, use different. If fever persists, see pediatric. ...Read more

Common: Infants who have RSV bronchiolitis will often cough intermittently for at least a month after the primary infection. Good idea to: Especially if the cough is the worst symptom. If you have yet to or not vaccinated your child for whooping cough you need to see the doctor to rule it out. Unfortunately whooping cough rates have increased over the years because many parents don't believe in immunizing anymore. It can be lethal to infants and seniors. ...Read more
