How come i can't straighten the knee when I am standing up? It is painful to move it straight. I seem to have a lot of grinding and locking of the knee

Locking knee: Sounds like a condition known as chondromalacia or if you have had a knee injury in the past it could be due to a meniscal tear. Locking of the knee is generally the result of a free body of some kind. You may need an MRI on the knee to make the diagnosis, and an orthopedic consult. ...Read more

What should I do if i can't straighten my knee 1 year after surgery?

What should I do if i can't straighten my knee 1 year after surgery?

See your orthopedist: What exactly was the surgery? If the knee contracture is mild then physical therapy may help. If it is more severe then i would speak with the orthopedist. ...Read more

I had plica removed along with a chondroplasty now i can't straighten my knee. I was told that I have arthrofibrosis. What is the treatment for that?

I had plica removed along with a chondroplasty now i can't straighten my knee. I was told that I have arthrofibrosis. What is the treatment for that?

Depends.: Arthrofibrosis is scar tissue. Sometimes it will respond to an oral medication called a Medrol Dosepack (prednisone). If that fails, you may need arthroscopic surgery to remove the scar tissue. Keep up with your physical therapy motion exercises. ...Read more

Need more info: It is hard to determine diagnosis of ur knee pain without being able to examine it and without more information, including description of how u injured ur knee, where ur knee hurts, etc. I suggest taking ibuprofen or naproxen, icing knee 20 min on / 20 min off, and seeing dr if no improvement within next 1-2wks; asap if worse. Take Care! ...Read more

So i had played 6 games of volleyball in a tourney, so now i can't straighten out my knee when i walk, but i can laying down. Whats the problem?

Difficult to say: Without an exam, but could be a meniscal tear, patellar maltracking problem, synovitis, muscle spasm. Being more specific could help. Tell where the pain is, how bad, when do you get it, did you injure the knee, does it catch or lock, has this happened before. ...Read more

I can't bend or straighten my knee w/o it being very painful. It doesn't pop and i can do a squat without it hurting. This came out of no where. ?

See a doctor: If your knee is not swollen, the inability to straighten it completely or bend it means that something is physically blocking the joint. However, squatting involves bending so i wonder what you mean by "can't bend". There are a few possibilities but you will need to see a doctor. ...Read more
