Can you have : someone check you for lice? That would be my first concern. After that, you have to think dermatitis of some kind (Huge work up will require doctor visit). The nits are easier to spot than the bugs especially in dark hair and they are usually close to the scalp. Something else: If it 's not irritation (itching) then you probably have dermatillomania, which is just a fancy way of saying you obsessively pick at yourself. This is thought to be related to obsessive-compulsive disorder & may improve on an ssri antidepressant. Cognitive-behavioral therapy might also help. Itching: If you are sweating a lot the scalp can get very irritated and inflamed. But sometimes the scalp get inflamed from just being dry. Medicated shampoos help (like neutrogena t gel or Nizoral (ketoconazole) which are over the counter). If this does not help, i suggest being evaluated for dermatitis along the scalp which is a common and treatable condition.
