Recently, I've been stressed, tired and constipated. When I did poop the color is yellowish, but now its dark green. Is this a sign of stomach flu?

No: Many things cause constipation. Stress is one. Get lots of rest, drink lots of water, eat fruit and if needed get miralax (polyethylene glycol). It is safe and effective over several days. Stomach flu makes you feel sick. If you are feeling well stool color is not important unless you see blood. That requires immediate investigation. You may need stress management if you can't manage on your own. Read up on it. ...Read more

Diagnosed with stomach flu on Monday haven't thrown up or had stool since Thursday can I eat normally now? Fries, pickles, chips, etc...

I don't recommend it: If you are recovering from "stomach flu" and are starting to feel hungry again, no vomiting or diarrhea, it's fine to start adding solids to your diet, however I would take it easy af first. Try something bland, low in fat, and easy to digest (chicken noodle soup, crackers, toast etc) before trying anything oily, fried, or spicy! Your digestive system is recovering, you don't want to shock it! :) ...Read more

I have had diyahhera nausea and feces smelling burps for the past 24 hours. Could anyone tell me if this is just the stomach flu?

Maybe not.: If your breath smells like feces, this could mean that you have something more serious than a stomach virus, like a partial obstruction. If you are taking Imodium (loperamide) stop it! This can cause your intestines to stop working temporarily if you do have a virus and cause symptoms like an obstruction. See a doc today and get checked. If you have fever, or abdominal pain, an ER is the best bet. ...Read more

Intestinal infection: Very likely a gastrointestinal infection commonly caused by viruses. Most are self limited and would not require excessive intervention. If tolerated continue regular diet or if preferred, offer bland diet; rice water or plain rice, mashed potatoes, banana and soup broth, homemade if possible. Celery cut in the soup may help fight the infection. Consult if febrile, or if bloody &/mucoid stools. ...Read more

I've had a bad case of the stomach flu for past few days and now my stool is yellow to pale orange. Should I be concerned?

Virus: If this is a viral intestinal tract infection causing diarrhea or loose stools, the color change is to be expected due to more rapid transit of stools through the intestinal tract and would be a temporary situation. Disorders of liver, pancreas or gall bladder can also cause these color changes. If bm's don't revert to normal after several days, consult your physician or gastroenterologist. ...Read more
