You will get better: In general, because of swelling and post operative pain, the range of motion of the knee is limited. As the knee heals from the surgery and as the selling goes down, the range of motion of your knee will improve. You will need physical therapy to complete the recovery. You will get better. You did not give how long since the surgery or the time since so the answer given here is a general answer. ...Read more

I need to know if I would need surgery for a knee if I cannot bend?

I need to know if I would need surgery for a knee if I cannot bend?

Likely Yes: If you have had an injury and cannot bend your knee, something may be stuck inside. If not getting better on its own, sometimes a quick outpatient surgery is the only way to get it going again. I would see your orthopedist sooner rather than later with a stuck knee. Don't let it go. ...Read more

If I damaged a ligament can it heal it self or do I have to get a surgery. I can't bend my leg all the way it hurts on the right side of my knee.

If I damaged a ligament can it heal it self or do I have to get a surgery. I can't bend my leg all the way it hurts on the right side of my knee.

It is a possibility: That it will heal by itself. Ligaments are in every joint and their function to create an orthopedic stability. They are relatively elastic and can lengthen under stress and then return to their original shape. Good rest, moist heat, otc anti-inflammatory and passive physical stretching will be helpful. If the condition is not improved in one week, see your health care provider. ...Read more

After MCL surgery, my doctor said not to bend my knee, why can't I bend my knee?

Mcl changes length: Depending how your surgeon fixed the mcl, the ligament itself has a couple areas that change length as you flex or bend your knee. Keepin it straight. For 2-3 weeks will keep those areas from stretching out and will allow you to heal the repair. You should be able to do a straight leg raise to keep your quad muscle tone. ...Read more

Tkr 3 wk ago. Only 80% bend. Why does back knee feel so painful since day 1 surgery. Confused-- did they cut things back there? : (

Postop: A tkr is exactly as described, a "total" replacement of the knee, so it is normal to feel pain in the front, back, sides - all parts of your knee. Depending on the technique, there may have been cutting of structures in the back of the knee. Blood clots are always a possibility after a joint replacement so be sure to follow-up with your surgeon. ...Read more

I had knee surgery in dec and I recently woke up in excruciating pain. I can only bend my knee to 90 degrees. Could I have pulled something?

More info needed...: I'm not sure what kind of knee surgery you had, but there's always the possibility of complications with any surgery. If you had a ligament repair, it's possible that ligament could have torn again. If a piece of your meniscus broke off, it could be locking your knee and preventing you from flexing it all the way. I recommend seeing the doctor that performed your surgery to get it checked out. ...Read more

My left knee has a torn cartilage which is really painful. I can't fully bend my knee when I lie down. Popping and locking as well. Surgery or not?

Possibly: Has torn cartilage been confirmed by an MRI? How long have you had symptoms? Have other treatments been tried, and did they help? If you have a torn meniscus that is causing significant pain, swelling or locking, then knee arthroscopy, a "scope, " can be helpful to remove or repair the torn meniscus. Acl and mcl tear 9/2014, no surgery. Now having some mild knee pain, fullness and can't bend all the way. Normal inflammation? Brace help?

A brace will not help. Have it evaluated by your doctor. You may need physical therapy. Alleve may help with the symptoms. ...Read more
