Can Sugar Really Make Any Kid Hyper
Is it ok to eat sugar based sweets, but make more insulin to compensate? I have rapid action insulin, and i can do it whenever i eat something.
Yes but tricky: It is possible to try to cover the intake of very rapid acting carbohydrate using rapid acting insulin, but often difficult to match the increases in blood sugar associated with eating those types of foods with the Insulin necessary given the timing of the action of available insulin. If you want to have a straight sugar snack i would recommend taking your rapid at least 15 minutes before consuming the food. ...Read more

Is there any lifestyle choices i can do to make my fetus not turn out to be a fussy/irritable infant? He's very active at 27 weeks. Anything i can do to calm and ease him?
No: The only cause and effect evidenced by medical study that causes a fussy/irritable baby is the effect of drugs like cocaine, heroin and caffeine. Even a stressed out mom does not cause a stressed out baby since the physiological effects of maternal stress are transient. The good news; active infants at 27 weeks gestation do not predict actual infant behaviou after birth. Good luck! stay happy. ...Read more

I understand how too much sugar leads to weight gain. How exactly does it affect blood sugar level and why doesn't natural sweetner like stevia do that?
Calorie in / out: After all the mumbo-jumbo and semi-science, weight loss / gain is totally about calories in (hunger, appetite, food choices) and out (basal metabolism, exercise, malabsorption / maldigestion, more). Blood sugar levels reflect the amount in transport and relates very little to recent intake or to weight loss / gain; the synthetic sweeteners aren't really sugars. ...Read more

Poor thought: Please never give credit to a small child for adult thinking. They are not little big people. The first year they get all their needs met by adults which makes them feel like kings/queens.As they get older you may want them to "behave" and do what you want but they still think you serve them. They learn to be respectful / behave gradually if you respect & help them.Your suggestion could lead CPS to u ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Unclear question: I am not sure what your question is asking. Children are less likely to have type 2 diabetes where the intake of excess sugar makes the blood sugar level go up. While a lot of sugar isn't the best diet in the world, a normal child's blood sugar level will not become abnormally high after a meal with a lot of sugar. ...Read more
Is jaggery same like sugar? Cause I am trying to avoid sugar for fat lose. But heard that jaggery is better than having sugar even for child.
Sugar: Jaggery has about the same calories and so not likely to offer much advantage as far as weight loss but would have some added nutritional properties beyond table sugar. You might want to consider stevia or better still avoid sweetening altogether. I tell my patients "most of the time the enemy tastes sweet". ...Read more

Yes: All things in moderation. Fruit is a vital part of our diet and should be consumed daily at the rate of several servings per day. Finally, too much fruit/sugar can lead to diarrhea and affect absorption of other nutrients. ...Read more

Question confusing: The human brain requires glucose (sugar) for fuel & everyone must either ingest it, create it from other dietary sources, or convert protein, glycogen or fat to make it. If you are concerned that a kid acts different when they consume sugar, consider the event. Studies have shown that kids celebrate sweet treats if rarely allowed & blinded tests reveal no change in behavior, sugar or sugar free. ...Read more
