Can Stress Make Veins More Visible
My veins have become more visible. Chest, lower abdomen, arms, legs(none bulge) — is this normal because I'm really pale? Or a result of bcp and stress?
Stress affects most people in some way. Acute (sudden, short-term) stress leads to rapid changes throughout the body. Almost all body systems (the heart and blood vessels, immune system, lungs, digestive system, sensory organs, and brain) gear up to meet perceived danger. These stress responses could prove beneficial in a critical, life-or-death situation. Over time, however, repeated stressful situations put a strain on the body that may contribute to physical and psychological problems. Chronic (long-term) stress can have real health consequences and should be addressed like any other health concern. Fortunately, research is showing that lifestyle changes and stress-reduction techniques can help people learn ...Read more
Does varicolectomy actually do anything? Some people say it just puts more stress on the other veins and is pretty useless.
Very stressed/overwhelmed lately, right neck vein bulges and feels like it's gonna explode. I try to calm down n it feels soar. How do I relax?
Positional change.: The veins in the face just as the veins in the rest of the body change in size depending on changes in position as well as changes in levels of hydration and changes in pressure in the chest and abdominal cavity. In the face, the veins decrease with standing and increase with lying down. Straining or laughing increase the pressure in the chest which can increase the size of the facial veins. ...Read more

Whenevery my husband gets extremely nervous/stressed his veins start to turn greyish and he often complains of a burning sensation. Is this dangerous?
Sympathetic surge: This sounds like a stress reaction that causes over activity of the sympathetic nervous system. This can cause surge in blood pressure, increased flow of blood into head and neck with distention of the bluish draining veins in the face and neck. This can cause stress on the heart and predispose to heart attack or stroke. He needs a thorough medical evaluation. He needs stress reduction. ...Read more
Why would I see the vein sticking out only on left side of neck? Normal EKG, stress test and echocardiogram in Feb.and normal u/s of carotids in April.

Baby was crying excessively while nurse was trying to get blood. It took 10 minutes to get a vein. Can this stress alone cause a WBC of 25, 000?
No: Although as a parent, it is harrowing to see your child be in pain for any period, typically that short-lived of a period of stress would not cause such an immediate, profound increase in one's WBC count. It sounds like you are plugged in appropriately with a healthcare provider that can investigate the cause with you, of which there are many possibilities. ...Read more

I have a bulging vein on the top left side of my head been there for 3 months and doctor told me it's stress. I'm really concerned as it kinda hurts?
Vein or artery: Are you sure it's a vein? If so, this may indicate nothing except that you are well hydrated. It could also mean higher than normal pressures in your chest, but this is unlikely. Given your age, its most likely just developmental. Follow up with your doctor if you remain concerned. If its an artery, it can be due to inflammation and your doctor may suggest some blood work. ...Read more

Vein: A vein sticking out can be from anatomic means like a nearby artery pushing on the vein and causing back pressure.
