Stress (Definition)

Stress affects most people in some way. Acute (sudden, short-term) stress leads to rapid changes throughout the body. Might exposure to chicken pox cause a shingles outbreak?

Might exposure to chicken pox cause a shingles outbreak?

They are buddies: Varicella-zoster are the responsible parties in chicken pox and shingles. If you have ever had chicken pox or the vaccine there is the possibility of shingles in your lifetime. While chicken pox does not cause shingles it has a clear role in its development. Other precipitating factors will bring out a shingles outbreak such as a viral illness, fatigue, and stress. ...Read more

25 just got shingles now i'm scared I have a serious issue like lymphoma to weaken my immune system that's caused this outbreak :(?

Herpes zoster: This is the varicella-zoster virus (vzv), and is a recurrence of your chickenpox as shingles. It used to be felt that it was necessary to have some underlying immune deficit or malignancy but this is no longer true, and totally normal people get outbreaks. Go and get the vaccine and this may help prevent or reduce future outbreaks, and unless you have other reasons, do not worry about lymphoma. ...Read more

If i was exposed to genital herpes, would stressing and worrying about it cause me to have an outbreak?

If i was exposed to genital herpes, would stressing and worrying about it cause me to have an outbreak?

No: Stress is usually related to repeat outbreaks, not new infections. New infections from exposure usually has more to do with current health status and immune status. After first outbreak, stress, illness and sunburn seem to incite outbreaks. Men usually have apparent outbreaks that are visible. It is possible for a woman to have a non visible internal cervical herpes outbreak. ...Read more
