Can Someone Tell Me What Kind Of A Doctor Specializes In Dyspareunia
For both men and women, pain can occur in the pelvic area during or soon after sexual intercourse. It can happen at any time during sex -- for example, at the time of penetration, erection, or ejaculation -- or after sexual activity. Eventually, ongoing pain may cause a person to lose interest in any sexual activity. The medical term ...Read more
Mentioned to my doctor about pain during sex and he is doing a VE on Monday. What would he be looking for? I'm only 19 and nervous.
NOT TO WORRY: the Doctor will not just be "lookling" but will most likely be able to TREAT what he/she finds! The most common reason in a partially perforated hymen... a little local anesthesia and a few seconds is all that would "take" RELAX ALL WILL BE WELL!!!! GOOD LUCK Hope this helps! Dr Z ...Read more
I'm still having pain during sex and after, my doctor can't find anything other than endometriosis on my kidney, what could it be?
Many things.: Even though endometriosis was only found on your kidney, it still may be in other places in your abdominal cavity, just not detected. It may be behind your ovaries or in other places not seen or microscopic. Ther might be some adhesions, and you might be naturally sensitive. You might have what is known as vaginismus, or contraction of those muscles from impending pain on sex due to the above. ...Read more
Why do I bleed during and after sex? I have recently been to the doctor for pain during sex and they said I am clean and the cause was unknown...
Second opinion: It is hard to tell without and exam. It depend on you age , medical condition, medications. The cervix in some women bay bleed easily to touch even with a cotton swab. A pap should be done, and sometimes a look at the cervix with a colposcope may show a superficial blood vessel which may be cauterized. Get a second opinion. There is a reason for the abnormal bleeding. ...Read more
Pain during sex I have been complaining to my doctor and gyno. For years about my pain during sex. It's so painful it makes me cry. I don't even like sex now. I never used to have this problem.
I always had an awesome sex life until the last few years
Chronic : Chronic or recurrent pain during, before or after intercourse is called dyspareunia. There are a number of possible physical causes. You mentioned a history of sexually transmitted diseases. One possible complication of sexually transmitted diseases or infections is pelvic inflammatory disease. There are a variety of other conditions such as enodometriosis which could cause pain during intercourse. If the woman’s genital area is not lubricated it could lead to pain. Some medications can cause a decrease in lubrication. You indicated that you developed this problem just prior to leaving your last partner. If there is not a change in your medical status, no injuries, no new medications which might impact sexual arousal or vaginal lubrication, no adverse reactions to new methods of birth control; have not had a baby recently, you are not perimenopausal etc; then it might be appropriate to look at other possible factors. A woman’s vagina becomes lubricated when she is sexually stimulated. If your partner is not aware of how to arouse you or there is inadequate foreplay, you might not be adequately lubricated prior to penile penetration. If there is tension in the relationship with your partner or if there is a lot of stress in general, that can effect your sexual response. If there has been a previous history of sexual abuse, even if you have been having satisfactory sex, it might create symptoms at a later time. I recommend that you give your partner feedback if there is inadequate foreplay or provide specifics about what you find stimulating. I recommend that the next time you talk with your doctor or gynecologist that you tell him/ her directly that painful sex is impacting your life and that you want to be evaluated specifically for this problem. It is important however, that if you want the focus to be on dyspareunia that you don’t bring it up in the context of a number of different medical issues. Hopefully, your medical provider will be responsive to your concern using this approach. ...Read more

Unlikely : Herpes usually presents with lumps/bumps, which are painful. Don't really understand the issue with bleeding and not being able to see the vaginal wall. The differential diagnosis that accompanies painful intercourse (also know as dyspareunia) is vast. Anything from infection to endometriosis can be at work here. ...Read more
