The "whiteness" can be from mediations, bacterial/fungal infection, or dehydration. Before bed: floss and brush your teeth, use a tongue scraper and rinse with an anti-microbial rinse like listerine. Sore throat: If you have an acute infection, decongestants in the short term will help you breath, but they may keep you up at night. Alternatively, decongestant nasal spray would help. Another easy fix is raising your head in bed. If it is a long term issue, I wouldn't use decongestants as they can raise blood pressure. Complication: A common complication of an infection with the cold virus is a BRONCHITIS which can result in hyper-reactvity of the small air passages resulting in a wheeze and mutilple "noises" in your chest. Drink lots of fluids and ask your Health Care Provider if an inhaler might be helpful.!!!!!
