Can Sinus Infection Cause Strep Throat
Can tonsillitis or sinus infection cause 1 enlarged lymph node in the neck? And if so why? I have 1 white spot on my tonsil no pain. Negative strep test
Yes lymph nodes swel: Infection causes lymph nodes to swell especially the one nearest the infection. The neck lymph nodes would be the closest to tonsils and sinuses. They swell because lymph nodes try to carry the infection away and break it down. Infection could be h. Flu or staph or another bacteria or virus or fungal. Cultures could help and proper antibiotics need to be started unless it is a virus.See 1 more doctor answer

What to do if I have a sinus infection and strep throat. I can't taste or smell anything. What can I do?
Neti Pot: Your lack of taste and smell is likely related to your sinus congestion. The congestion blocks the cells that allow you to taste and smell. Sinus rinses with saline, using either a squirt bottle or a neti pot may help clear the swollen areas to allow you to smell and taste. A very short course of decongestants may also be helpful, but don't overdo it with these.
I was given Azithromycin 250mg 6 tablets for my sinus infection and strep throat. I've been on the medication almost 3 days but the white/yellowish curd is still there. How long does it take to see results? I'm feeling mildly better. Thank you
Side Effect: Sounds like a fungal overgrowth due to the medication. You need to reconnect with the prescriber and they can go from there. Using Probiotics, yogurt may help restore the normal flora in the tract.
My school nurse looked at my sore throat saying I have mono or strep and my doctor said I have a sinus infection. Can someone explain this?
School nurses: School nurses are employed to help identify kids that need to be sent home to protect the student body from spread of contagious diseases. Any direct patient care is secondary to this first duty. They are not physicians & are not licensed to diagnose or treat your illness. In this case s/he correctly identified you as sick & potentially having a contagious illness. It's the doc's job to sort it out.See 1 more doctor answer
Not sure if I have strep throat or a sinus infection beginning. Since thursday I have experienced a sore throat, my ears are bothering me, sneezing?
See your healthcare: It's not clear what you have based on your description and I think it would be wise to see your healthcare provider in the a.m. to help delineate whether you're dealing with a bacterial infection of viral infection or possibly just some seasonal allergies.
31/F. high WBC, with high neutrophils and decrrased lymphs. Symptoms of sinus infection and possible strep throat. Temp of 95.5?
Sinus infection: Strept can give you a high white count and the change or shift in the type of cells to predominantly neutrophils is to be expected. The low temp could be secondary to the thermometer not functioning or did you drink something cool prior to the reading? At any rate take the antibiotics prescribed, consider doing saline washes up to 5 times a day, and I find motrin works better than tylenol (acetaminophen) pain.See 1 more doctor answer
I have sinusitis strep throat, broncitis all at once. Seen 2 dr. I have amoxicillin, flowvent and a sinus spray. When would I know to go to emerg if need?
Give it time: If you have all of those symptoms at once you most likely have a viral upper respiratory infection. These take 10-14 days to fully resolve. You only need to see you doctor again if you are getting much WORSE, no need to see them if they are the same but still there. A viral cough can last up to 28 days and still be normal.
What are if bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) works for strep throat and or sinus infections?
Yes: May be associated throat infection and/or dryness.
Hi I had a sinus infection for two weeks and bad headaches/congestion. That is gone but in the morning when I wake up my throat hurts and there is still mucus being coughed up. What is the cause of this? What should I do? Thanks
Post nasal drip: The cause is the sinus infection that you already had. It is left over from the sinus infection. A decongestant such as sudafed and a second generation antihistamin such as zyrtec (cetirizine) should be able to stop it. Pharmacist can help you or your doctor can give you a prescription.See 2 more doctor answers

Coughing up hard thick yellowish bloody phlegm. Could this be a sinus infection since the air is really dry and cold? Also causes a sore throat.
Coughing up: Blood at any time requires further work up! See your pcp. Do not put this off.
Can sinus infection cause feeling of something stuck in throat for 3 months? No other symp besides enlarged salivary gland or node. Cancer? Clear ct
You need to see a: Specialist physician. Problem has gone on too long. Please see an otolaryngologist (ENT) for a complete history and physical. Bring your old records and any test results/images. I suspect they will inspect your throat with a special scope. Depending on prior workup, additional sinus or neck imaging may be useful.See 2 more doctor answers
