It will get better: Shingles will heal on its own with/out treatment. Early treatment can result in faster healing/less swelling. 2-3 wks is the typical course of shingle attack without early treatment. Some may have persistent/prolonged postherpetic neuralgia (nerve pain), but swelling will pretty much always resolve completely. Sleep in recliner may lessen swelling a bit.
