Cancer can begin anywhere in the body and is usually related to one or more genetic mutations that allow normal cells to become malignant by interfering with internal cellular control mechanisms, such as programmed cell death or by preventing ...Read more

Typically: Typically they are surgically removed and submitted for microscopic diagnosis by a specialist. Depending upon their location and size it may be done under local or general anesthesia.
Generally yes: In most instances you should have these removed because removal after infection may be very difficult. However a few patients may have a large number of these which makes removal impractical.See 2 more doctor answers
Local Anesthesia: For patients undergoing sebeceous cyst removal we start with a local anesthetic cream, followed by a local anesthetic injection. This is very well tolerated. After surgery the majority of patients do not require any pain killers afterward, if they do tylenol (acetaminophen) is usually sufficient.See 2 more doctor answers
Not really but..: Abx will NOT cure a sebaceous cyst. They can help clear the infection and surrounding cellulitis that can occur when the cyst becomes infected.. ... but not the cyst itself. The cyst needs to be removed if bothering you. If not bothering you can be safely watched.See 2 more doctor answers

Outgrowths: They appear as growths from the skin surface and may feel soft or hard. Sometimes they may already be draining whitish material which is tooth paste consistency and may have an odor.See 1 more doctor answer
Deep trapped skin...: They are caused by skin surface cells trapped beneath the skin's surface, usually due to minor trauma. These cells continually shed, increasing the size of the cyst (more accurately an epithelial inclusion cyst.) removal is generally a minor surgical procedure, but requires total removal of the cyst wall to prevent recurrence of the cyst.See 1 more doctor answer
Mobile mass attached: Sebaceous cysts originate within the skin and are therefore attached over the mass. There is a layer of fat underneath the cyst that makes them movable. If the cyst ruptures under the skin, scar tissue forms and can initiate an inflammatory response. This will reduce their mobility and make them more difficult to remove.See 1 more doctor answer
