Increasing numbness limbs constant pain and spasms in lower & upper back & down left leg, MRI lumbar showed bulge disk L4 l5, rotatory scoliosis causes

Nonspecific: Believe it or not, scoliosis does not cause pain for most patients - unless the scoliosis is very severe. Similarly, a disk bulge is often of no consequence, and is simply a normal finding as we age. See a physician (consider seeing a neurologist since you have numbness) for further evaluation. ...Read more

Pain: lower back, thigh, one leg. Behind knee. Inner thigh. Tingling & numbness in foot. Lost control on my bladder once 2day. No sleep bc of pain.??

Sounds serious...: When a person loses control of the bladder, but was fine before... that's a problem. When combined with neurological symptoms in the legs or lower back, it becomes an emergency. In such a situation, one should get an immediate evaluation to see if there is something pressing on the spinal cord, which could lead to permanent paralysis. The Emergency Room doctor can ask the Neurologist to help. ...Read more

I have a ruptured disc on my lower back what can I do to get rid of the numbness on the back of my right leg down the bottom of my foot?

I have a ruptured disc on my lower back what can I do to get rid of the numbness on the back of my right leg down the bottom of my foot?

Abdominal strength: 1st get a full neuro exam by doctor. If you do not need emergency surgery for spine issue begin tightening your abdominal muscles. That often relieves the symptoms over time. Gentle small movement crunches or straight leg raises or okay, but go slow and pay attention. If things worsen get rechecked by doc. Time almost always handles this. Be patient. Don't rush to surgery unless told urgent by doc. ...Read more

Symptoms of bowelmovements of only mucus and jelly fish like things. Leg arm feet numbness and tingling. Upper and lower back pain. Wbc of 14.8?

Symptoms of bowelmovements of only mucus and jelly fish like things. Leg arm feet numbness and tingling. Upper and lower back pain. Wbc of 14.8?

This requires eval: Your symptoms and signs (white count of 14, 800) are numerous and only an in-person evaluation/examination can adequately assess them. I might think of some form of infectious colitis with your mucus BM's and elevated WBC count; the numbness/tingling and pain could be something entirely different. I believe the best advice is go to ER (or your doc's office if you can get in today!) Good wishes:) ...Read more

I am in my 40s and have chronic lower back and hip pain. Pain shoots down front of leg. Foot gets numb and tingly. Any ideas what it could be?

Possibly a sciatica: A sciatica is caused by an irritation of a nerve in the back that then can cause pain that runs down the leg like you are describing. There are also potentially other causes as well. Usually a detailed history and exam can determine the cause. Thank you for your question. ...Read more

Scoliosis: How long have you been dealing with the pain? What you done for muscle pain before? Occasional lower back ache. My butt feels like it cramps. Both legs get cramp like pain on and off in calves and feet. Occasional numbness. Causes?

Recommend evaluation: Symptoms may suggest lumbar spine or neuromuscular pathology caused by vitamin deficiencies or hormone and electrolyte imbalances. Questions regarding other sxs should be addressed. You could schedule a consult or see your PCP. I recommend further evaluation with lab tests including B12, CK, TSH and a basic metabolic panel as well as an MRI of lumbar spine and if negative an electromyelogram. ...Read more

Can pinched nerve cause tingles when looking up&numbness in rt arm and leg? I do a lot of stair running. 1st started with pulled lower back and spread

Spurling Sign: Yes. Clasically, looking up and toward the side of symptoms will elicit a shooting pain into the arm suggesting a pinched nerve in the neck. Less commonly, if the spur/disc is more central, there may also be symptoms affecting the same leg. Again, this would imply a combination of central and lateral pressure. A large disc herniation would be most likely if < 50 years. Consider a spine md eval. ...Read more
