Legs turn blotchy when I stand for long time. Doctor said its raynaud's but it doesn't help to be warm. My pulses are fine. What could this be?

Legs turn blotchy when I stand for long time. Doctor said its raynaud's but it doesn't help to be warm. My pulses are fine. What could this be?

Not Raynauds: Raynaud's disease is due to spasm of the muscular lining of the blood vessels due to temperature extremes. They will turn blue with cold exposure and red with heat exposure. Standing means the blood is pooling in the veins and the superficial ones will dilate. The legs look blotchy but it is of no concern as this is normal. 18 years old is extremely young to have raynauds. ...Read more

I have a reconstructed ankle joint. Now my foot/leg will look modeled, get cold, and hurts (bad). My dr says raynaud's can it be something else?

Impingement?: Agree with dr. Inwood - other possibilities are impingement from scar tissue (or hardware) from the surgery, decreased blood flow and post-surgical arthritis.

Definitely see your surgeon if you haven't - they would want to know you are having post-operative problems. ...Read more

Hi I have a small lump on the inside my thigh (fatty lump I think) leg has started to ache and raynauds got worse in that foot. Should I see dr?

unrelated: Raynaud's disease is due to spasm of the muscular lining of the blood vessels due to temperature extremes. The fatty lump on your fight is probably a benign lipoma. If indeed you feel your raynaud's has gotten worse, it is completely unrelated to the presence of a lump. If the lump is causing your symptoms, I would consider having it removed. ...Read more

blood vessel diseas: Raynaud's disease is due to spasm of the muscular lining of the blood vessels due to temperature extremes. It does not affect joints or muscles. Can tight, spasming hip, butt, low back muscles on one side cause leg to hurt? Had steroid shot in butt gave a little relief but still feels crampy

Spasm: Absolutely, spasm can reduce blood flow and cause pain/aching in the leg. Not sure why you had the steroid IM shot though. Consider getting your low back looked at by a chiropractor or a DO who knows how to manipulate. Odds are you have a structural issue somewhere below L2.
