Can Raw Thyroid Help Acne
How can I treat a high thyroid ? I'm our of my meds. And how can I treat the acne caused by hormones.
I believe I have cystic acne should I have my thyroids checked and what should I do its also very itchy.?
Get Rx that works: This is the 21st century and nobody needs to have cystic acne, or anything that looks like it. If this is cystic acne, your primary care physician will probably start you on both a topical (clindamycin with a retinoic acid derivative, perhaps) and a systemic antibiotic, or if you're a lady, discuss the oral contraceptive pill. If tough, you have a right to a dermatologist's big guns. Good luck. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I have Hyperthyroidism and I've been getting more acne then before. Does my thyroid have something to do with this problem?
Probably 2 issues: B"sd There are some reports of oily skin and acne - but nothing specific on my literature search. This is probalbly occurence of a very common with a not so uncommon condition and both have their own specific causes and remedies. As an endo would check hormone status relating to the acne and the thryoid and make recommendations as appropriate for both. Happy to discuss. ...Read more
Is it possible to still have a thyroid prob even when test came back negative? My hair is like straw, acne all over, and dry skin along with reflux?!
Maybe (not) . . .: How negative is negative? Reflux & acne are not usually signs or symptoms of thyroid disorder, either hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism. There is a wide range of "normal"; some labs often use 0.45 to 4.5. Your body might be used to lower number like 1 so that 4 is abnormal even tho result is negative. Kinda like straight A valedictorian getting 1st D- which is still passing. ...Read more

Every since my radioactive iodine treatment after thyroid cancer I have had bad acne. Could this be related? I had the treatment in june of 2010.
Indirectly related: It would be very unlikely for the radioactive iodine to induce acne, but another change that probably happened around the same time is taking thyroid hormone. Thyroid hormone tablets could affect the balance between estrogen and testosterone, by changing the amount of sex hormone binding protein made by the liver. Lab tests could help your doctor know if this was causing your acne. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers

Does a thyroid level in the TSH 4.1 to 5.2 range indicate hypothyroidism? Is very dry skin and increase in acne also a symptom?
Possibly: A TSH of 4.1-5.2 is mildly high. Most people with these levels will still have a normal thyroid level (free t4), and have no symptoms. We call that subclinical hypothyroidism. There are, however, some people who are sensitive to even mildly abnormal levels, and have symptoms. Dry skin is a very common complaint, that may or may not be related. Acne is usually associated with high thyroid. ...Read more
Im on bc pills, ( 6 months) 0.35 mcg of estrogen in pills, so
why am i still having night sweats, acne and insomnia?
All blood work and thyroid normal
BCPs: Most bcps help acne by increasing a protein that binds to testosterone and in effect hides it from the body. You may need a less androgenic Progesterone bcp to better control this. The night sweats should not occur if caused by perimenopause because the estrogen in bcps replaces the deficiency associated with this. If night sweats only occur during your menses week, then only take active pills. ...Read more

Small risk: Accutane can cause conjunctival irritation and secondarily eye dryness. If your eyes are dry to begin with and you add the dryness of accutane, then your dryness can increase. I'm hypothyroid. When on birth control alone,I noticed dat my acne &hair loss improved little. Is dis pos? Iv heard dat bcps worsen thyroid problems?
BCP and thyroid: BCP do not worsen thyroid problems. Presumably you are taking levothyroxine for your hypothyroidism. BCP increases the amount of thyroid binding protein in the blood. In some of the older blood tests, this altered some of the values, but if a TSH or FT4 is measured, there is no problem with interpretation of lab values. ...Read more
