I think I've got IBS. Been taking probiotics a cpl of days. Pain gone BUT I seem to have acid reflux now. Is this common? What can I do to offset it?
Consider first: Making sure nothing more concerning is going on and that you have the correct diagnosis. This requires you seeing your doctor in person first. Otherwise, if you really are interested in going the route of probiotics, consider either changing the brand use you or change to a probiotic with a different strain. The best data (none is great) if for Bifidobacterium infantis. Best of luck.See 1 more doctor answer
Having nausea&bloating on/off for months. No other symptoms. Diet is good. Others docs say acid reflux & told me take probiotic. Sometimes doesn't help?
Find symptoms' cause: Nausea may be gi-related (food poisoning, peptic disease, gastroparesis, due to biliary & pancreatic disease, gas/bloat syndrome, small bowel problems). Consider "central" causes: motion sickness, vertigo, migraine headache, brain problems (some very serious). Also, rule out infection (? Urinary tract), medication side effects, pregnancy, &even reaction to stress. Find & treat the cause.

I take probiotics and zantac (ranitidine). Why do I have problems with acid reflux, swallowing capsules and trying to burp. Also my flatulance smell esp bad lately.
Need GI Consult: You have acid reflex not relieved by over the counter zantac, (ranitidine) which is not so uncommon. You can try Omeprazole a stronger acid suppresser available over the counter you also have flatulence problem which may have a different cause consult your doctor or a gastroenterologist to find the right therapy for your problem.
Food: Most reflux issues are due to diet. Don't eat foods that you expect to cause heartburn. This may seem like common sense advice but needs to be said. If you continue to have symptoms however, you should be evaluated for a short course of medication and possible even a stomach scope (egd) to rule out ulcers and damage to the stomach and esophagus.See 1 more doctor answer
