Probably muscular: or skeletal...it is possible that you fractured some ribs from coughing with pneumonia, and that the nearby muscles are irritated. All that should be healing by now though, unless you are doing some activity that actually stresses those same muscles or ribs. Did you have a followup x-ray to be sure the pneumonia was gone? If not, see your doc and ask about having one, especially if you smoke. ...Read more

Had fluid lower right lung April 15 residual of pneumonia left March 4. Aches in right rib/back on and off still. Will ache resolve? No other symptoms

?muscular: Soreness in the rib cage may be due to strain in the intercostal muscles. Are you performing any activities that could cause strain of these rib cage muscles? Is there any history of chest wall trauma? Have you been coughing a lot? Have your md examine you to be sure that the soreness is in the rib cage and not the lungs or elsewhere.
