Sinus infection: A virus can cause early infection but some times there is a secondary infection involving the sinuses, specially if you are prone to it you need to see your doctor and probably take antibiotics in the mean time a vaporizer or inhaling steam and saline nose drops every 8 hrs might help

I wake up every morning with waves up nausea, dry heaving, and excess phlegm in my throat. Some mornings it's once or twice while others it's ongoing.

Could be: Post nasal drip. Drains at night. Then in am body tries to mobilize it. Cough. Vomit etc to get rid of it. Call your doc. Try some allergy meds may help. Elevate head of bed. All may help. Increase water. May help this the secretions.

See below: May have started as common cold (viral) but developed secondary bacterial infection of throat/nasal passages/sinuses. Phlegm probably from post-nasal drainage & may be source of nausea. See fp for evaluation. If only viral, will run its course with symptomatic treatment. If bacterial, antibiotics will clear it up (along with symptomatic treatment).

Pharyngitis: First you need a pregnancy test if any possibility then a full history and exam. Sounds like the common cold with a possible bacterial infection superimposed on your throat. Viruses cause most of pharyngitis and can cause a vesicular appearance but if the blister on tonsil has yellow discharge more likely to be strep with fever tenderness and absence of cough. See MD

I've had coughing up lots of phlegm, but I don't feel sick, advise?

I've had coughing up lots of phlegm, but I don't feel sick, advise?

Needs reason: The body always has a reason for what it does. Consistent coughing phlegm is abnormal. Not everyone who is sick feels sick or has fever. There are many potential reasons for the cough, not all of which will make you 'feel sick' it would be wise and appropriate to seek medical evaluation.

Some mornings I wake up and hack up some yellow/brown phlegm. Its usually when I first wake up. I don't have a cough or feel sick. Is this normal?

Maybe postnasal drip: Mild nasal allergies can cause some muscus dripping in back of throat/mouth and collects there during sleep and can turn a bit brown in the am. During day, little mucus/drip is pulled down by gravity, but when sleeping mucus tends to stay in back of throat and thus productive coughing/coughing in the early am. If worsens, call doc for eval. Good luck.

I have had a cough for 2+ months. In morning shower I cough up phlegm. Cough and runny nose sometimes extends thru the day. I don't feel sick, and a non-smoker.

Chronic cough: A chronic cough with nasal symptoms and not feeling sick sounds like an allergic problem. Allergies are a chronic disease that often is annoying but not severe. When severe, allergy patients can have a worse average quality of life than cancer patients. A chronic cough for two months could be a viral bronchitis resolving slowly, or asthma, or a subacute sinus infection. Time to see an allergist.

You have not asked a: Question. You have described signs and symptoms however that would suggest you would benefit from evaluation by a health care professional. You need examination and testing. Don't delay.
