Not really: Mirena (levonorgestrel) iud strings do not cause infection, nor have anything to do with an ovarian cyst. The ovary will creat a so called cyst for the ovulation process. Not sure: I would make that connection. You may want to ask for clarification and how he/she arrived at that diagnosis. I suppose anything may be possible but unless you have some type if genital infection i can't see the correlation. ...Read more

It might: Depends on cause, treatment (surgery?), etc. Maybe tests already were done or planned to evaluate for fallopian tube damage (laparoscopy, ultrasound, etc). Discuss with your gynecolgist and/or infertility specialist. Ask if "infected ovarian cyst" was a euphemism for pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) or tubo-ovarian abscess, which may cause more tube damage than simple infected cysts. Good luck! ...Read more
