Mouth sores: The main ingredient is orajel is benzocaine, which is a mild topical anesthetic. Orajel could provide temporary relief, however, it will not cure the mouth sores. I get sinus pain with shooting pains in my ear, often is accompanied by mouth sores and/or tooth pain. How are mouth sores and sinusitis related?

2 separate problems: 1. A sinus infection or inflammation can cause a toothache, especially in the upper molars. These problems should be managed by your PCP or ENT. 2. Mouth sores (aphthous ulcers) are painful sores inside the mouth. The sore may be painful for three or four days, but complete healing usually takes ten to fifteen days. Canker sores may recur many times each year. No cure is available. Read more

Root canal / extrac: The pain your are experiencing is either coming from an inflamed nerve inside your tooth or an infection at the base of your tooth, neither of which will likely respond to any home remedies or the application of external medicine. Your best next step is to see a dentist to determine if your tooth can be saved, and then proceed with a root canal (dentist or endodontist) or extraction. Read more

Orajel Not Cause: It is very unlikely that the numbness is being caused by the orajel. More likely, your numbness is being caused by the infection. You may want to see a specialist as the infection may be impinging on a nerve thereby causing you the feeling of numbness. Read more
