I've been using nasobec nasal spray for 3 days for blocked ears 2 sprays in each nostril 2 times a day now I have a really sore throat is this normal?
My left nostril tends to bleed in cold dry weather. I have a polyp there diagnosed by ct scan. Is saline nasal spray ok to use?
Yes: Saline nasal sprays help to keep your nose moist, which prevents bleeding. If your nasal polyp starts to bleed after use, stop. Occasionally there can be a blood vessel near the surface that bleeds easily. If the symptoms are bothering you or interfering with your life, get evaluated to see if this might be the case. If so, it can be cauterized. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
After spraying my nose with Afrin Nasal Spray for congestion I cannot smell anything. Even the most strongest perfumes Or food?
A thought: Loss of smell (and possible cause of congestion to begin with) could implicate the presence of nasal polyps. These are growths caused by various types of inflammation and should be treated with medicine to reduce their size and restore nasopharyngeal health. An Allergist can help. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Can allergic-influenza rhinitis last 2 months with dry cough and dry, bloody-fatty nasal Ep. with edema at nasal back? Clean Thorax and nasal Röntgen.
M.D. visit: From your history and description, these symptoms may represent an allergic reaction which can cause red irritated eyes and nasal passages. Sinusitis caused by an infection is also possible, but the drainage would be thick and fever is typically associated. I would suggest a nasal steroid and taking the loratadine daily until the symptoms improve. Your physician will also screen you for asthma. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Is it possible for a nonmedicated saline nasal spray to get stuck in the nasal cavity and cause of ear infection in a five-year-old?
Ear infection causes: Ear infections are caused by bacteria or viruses. Noses are full of bacteria anyway. Saline rinses away a few bacteria; if the bottle is dirty, saline may add a few bacteria to the nose, but they won't often travel to the ear because the Eustachian tube is a tiny passage, esp in children. Droplets of water sprayed in nose are only in the nose a few minutes. Squeeze bottle irrigation CAN hurt ears. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
For 2 years been having an excess production of clear phlegm. Sometimes throat feels blocked & saline nasal spray will bring up mucus. What is this?
Allergies: This sounds like allergic rhinitis with post nasal drainage. Consider an antihistamine and nasal steroid spray trial. Also allergy testing may be appropriate with long term refractory symptoms. If throat symptoms persist see an otolaryngologist for a complete pharyngeal (throat) examination. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

So many nasal sprays: maybe that's the problem, if overuse nasal decongestant sprays, you may develop rebound congestion, besides it might not only be congestion, bacterial infection may need antibiotics, and perresistant inflammation may need steroids, local or systemic, so better see your doctor, best wishes ...Read more

Nasal spray: If you have been using a nasal spray like Afrin then you could be experiencing "rebound" swelling of the nasal passages. Talk to your doctor about using a steroid nasal spray to help you get through the withdrawal from the other. ...Read more

Can Xyzal (levocetirizine) cause nasal congestion? I've been taking it for thick mucus and PND (perennial rhinitis). Stopped it for 2 days and my nose is clear!
Not really: not a known reported side effect, however if you experienced it first hand, then it may be a factor for your symptoms. Generally it dries up secretions, so if you already had thick mucous it may have been made more thick by xyzal, (levocetirizine) hence the feeling of being clogged up, just a theory. At any rate, keep using saline nasal washes, see your doctor/ENT/allergist to rule out chronic sinusitis, goodluck ...Read more
I have a confirmed nose bleeder, polyps and congested nose. I am on antihistamine, saline wash and steroid spray. Is that the best solution?
Only if they work: This is a very complex issue as there are many potential causes for your problem. It appears that you may have a chronic sinus infection as well. A less common condition is known as Aspirin exacerbated rhinosinusitis (often accompanied by asthma) and in which case another class of drug called leukotriene modifier may work better. You should consult an allergist to help you sort this out. ...Read more
What's best home remedy for gagging from post nasal drip ? Can you also have nasal polyps even if you breathe fine though nose. 2 years had pnd
I was prescribed atrovent spray for a cough that may be caused by post nasal drip. I have stuffy nose, can't breath; fear that spray will worsen.
My son 22 months old has a cold, nasal congestion. Is there any nasal decongestant spray that would help. I am using the saline spray and OTC zyrtec. ?
Saline and suction.: The safest and most effective treatment is saline nose drops and suctioning. Elevating the head of the crib and using a humidifier help, too. Cold and cough medicines are proven ineffective and can have serious side effects, which is why the fda has been taking them off the market gradually. If this doesn't help, your child needs to see the doctor to see if it's more than a cold. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Chronic nasal congestion due to rhinitis. Are saline nasal sprays effective in the long term? Congestion will come back if stopped? Thanks.
Lots of Options: OTC non-sedating antihistamines like Allegra, Claritin, (loratadine) or Zyrtec are helpful for perennial allergic rhinitis symptoms, however the gold-standard treatment are daily intranasal steroid sprays if your symptoms are more severe. Avoidance of triggers is important as well and allergy shots are also an option. Saline sprays are useful but will not provide lasting relief used alone. See Allergist. ...Read more
