Can my girlfriend catch my pinworms?

Can my girlfriend catch my pinworms?

Depends: Pinworms are spread when the dried eggs end up on someones fingers & they place them on their face/mouth where they enter the digestive tract from above, hatch & begin to live in the colon. If your gf has contact with your bed sheets, she can become contaminated as they are often discharged into your underware or sheets. She will not get them kissing or through sex.

What to do if I have a mild case of pinworms. Is it possible that my girlfriend will get it to. Like from kissing or having sex. Or even by laying in my bed?

Both you & your: Girlfriend should be treated. Yes - lying on your bed (contaminated linens) or intimate contact can spread the worms. Pinworm treatments include anthelmintic medications like Albendazole (Albenza), Mebendazole (vermox) or pyrantel (Pin-X, Antiminth). Good handwashing is important. Wash clothing that has been worn recently, bed linens, upholstery and carpeting

My child is scratching his butt, is that a sure sign of pinworm?

My child is scratching his butt, is that a sure sign of pinworm?

No: But it could be. Look for the worms, coming out at nite. They look like little moving white threads. A stool sample to the lab would accurately identify them.Scratching there also comes from irritaion caused by reactions to t.P., poor hygiene etc.

What could cause pinworms?

Ingesting the eggs: Pin worm eggs are found in the bedding of affected infants & toddlers, shed into their clothing from the skin around their anus where the adult worm lays them. The eggs are laid in a glue like substance that irritates the skin, so the kids are often scratching the area & dispersing the eggs. If the kid or others touch their mouth with contaminated fingers, they get a dose of eggs & start over.

Are pinworms passed through sex?

No: Pin worm eggs are ingested from contaminated fingers, pass through the digestive tract and end up hatching in your intestines where they live off fecal debris. They don't pass through intercourse. Spend enough time around the bed of a carrier and your hands may become contaminated by stray eggs. (they are spread from peri-anal skin.)
