Can muscle strain cause arm numbness w/ back pain? Went to dr told me I strain my muscle.

Can muscle strain cause arm numbness w/ back pain? Went to dr told me I strain my muscle.

It all depends.: Muscle strain/sprain are injuries to the muscle tissue that can be very painful. Some muscle injuries can cause trigger sensation which will cause pain to radiate to different areas. This are trigger points. Now, a low back injury will not cause hand numbness. Other pathologies should be ruled out and a complete physical examination and likely imaging studies should be perform if symptoms persit

Muscle (Definition)

It is a body tissue that has the ability to contract. It shortens and generates force. It relaxes and returns to its original length. Muscles move joints, stabilize the body, move air and food through the organs, act as valves for bladder, bowel and other organs. They control movement of the eyes. They help us express ourselves by changing the shape of our ...Read more

Can chest muscle strain causes arm numbness?

Can chest muscle strain causes arm numbness?

No: You need to uncover the cause of the arm numbness. Some thoughts with chest symptoms, could be pectoralis minor syndrome, thoracic outlet syndrome, but other nerve issues could be considered. A neurologist may be needed. The muscle strain is most likely secondary to the arm issue.

Hi, I got a grade 2 muscle strain in long head of tricep, I've numbness along most of this muscle, is that normal?

Hi, I got a grade 2 muscle strain in long head of tricep, I've numbness along most of this muscle, is that normal?

Triceps strain: Did the numbness start soon After the injury? If so then it Can be related. Most nerve injures in that area resolve on their own but may take 3-4 months

Arm numbness: Arm numbness comes from impingement of a nerve root in the cervical spine or a pinched nerve in the arm itself. Often people will have referred pain/numbness in the upper back too. Massage, physical therapy, and ice may be beneficial. If the numbness persists then an MRI of the cervical spine and a nerve test can help find the source of the numbness.

After straining myself on kegels, my penis feels numb, and its hard to achieve erections or pee. Is this a PC muscle strain or worse?? How do I heal?

After straining myself on kegels, my penis feels numb, and its hard to achieve erections or pee. Is this a PC muscle strain or worse?? How do I heal?

Need more info...: Did you do Kegel's exercise for stress urinary incontinence after prostate surgery? Kegel's exercise may induce temporary mild soreness from "over"-straining of pelvic floor muscles and should not induce nerve damage leading to penile numbness. If having prostate surgery, such feeling may be delayed effect of surgery + aging. More? Contact www. HealthTap/com/dr-Lin with RQPWJC to login.

Left side back muscle strain feeling btr w/ muscle rub, large knot. Better now, but have a numb/tingle feeling under left breast on rib cage to back?

Left side back muscle strain feeling btr w/ muscle rub, large knot. Better now, but have a numb/tingle feeling under left breast on rib cage to back?

Muscle verses nerve: Continue to use the rub, heating pad to treat the strain. If the numbness and tingling doesn't improve, the possibility of thoracic radiculopathy should be considered. Thoracic imaging such as MRI can be utilized for further work up

Can standing still all day cause muscle strain?

Can standing still all day cause muscle strain?

Not typically: It can cause low back pain or leg pain. Strains are injuries to muscle from overstretching the tissue, ie from exercises, sports, forced exertion. Think of a group of rubber bands which get stretched beyond their limit. Some will "break" sooner than others, ie a torn muscle. But just standing won't put the strain on it.

What causes rid of a muscle strain or internal bruise?

What causes rid of a muscle strain or internal bruise?

Usually these are:-: Self limiting conditions, unless you are frequently re-injuring yourself. You can try pain meds like nsaids, eg advil or aleve (naproxen) + a muscle relaxer (like flexeril) with pt including stretching exercises, massages, heat packs and avoiding the specific activity that caused it or is making it worse. Good luck. If still persists, see your doctor to make a correct diagnosis.

Recently diagnosed w/ rotator tear & ligament/muscle strain. Could this be caused by my lupus? What is my best course of action?

Partial cause: Lupus can lead to increased inflammation in joints and specifically in the shoulder increase likelihood of tendonitis and bursitis. Lupus can also cause muscle pain and inflammation (myositis). What to do with the rotator cuff tear depends on if it is a partial or complete tear and how bad is bothers you. Tears don't have to be operated on but you may elect to if pain and weakness persist.

Can a muscle strain cause breathing problems?

Can a muscle strain cause breathing problems?

Possibly: If the strain is severe enough to cause painful respiration, you will breathe shallowly and possibly hypoventilate. Over time this leads to atelectasis (collapse of alveoli), retained secretions, and pneumonia. All of the above results in hypoxia (low oxygen level). Again, this is only with a severe muscle strain.

What types of stretches/exercises are good for relieving sciatica caused by a mild lower back muscle strain?

What types of stretches/exercises are good for relieving sciatica caused by a mild lower back muscle strain?

Core Exercises: Typically core strengthening exercises are the best to help relieve pressure and forces in the spine. I would try and google some or look them up on youtube to see descriptions. If you can do them yourself, wonderful otherwise ask your doctor to get a referral to a good physical therapist for further assistance.
