No: Women's symptoms vary. It might not be abnormal for some, but it is not typical for most women to have morning sickness beyond 13-16 weeks. So women having persistent or severe nausea or vomiting should inform their OB providers. A blood test for electrolytes (eg, sodium, potassium) and other studies might be ordered, referral to a nutritionist might be advised and treatments might be suggested.See 1 more doctor answer
Can you develop morning sickness in the second trimester having not had any in the first? I'm nauseous after eating breakfast. I'm 17w4d
Not the same: It is very common for women to have morning sickness in the first trimester. If you did not have it, then you were lucky. For women who seem to develop it later, it is likely for other reasons. The most common, particularly with the association of food, is reflux related problems. This can easily be treated with daily antacid medications - talk to your doctor!
No: There is not necessarily something wrong if morning sickness stops, for most women it stops at some point during or after the first trimester. If your pregnancy symptoms have all gone away, especially if you are having cramping and bleeding, you should call your doctor to have an ultrasound to check on the baby.See 1 more doctor answer
Not The Same: Severe nausea & vomiting in your third trimester should be reported to your ob. Early in pregnancy, morning sickness is attributed to the quickly rising hormone levels. This is not the case in your last trimester. Your doc should evaluate you for a possible bowel infection, liver disease, preeclampsia, among other common pregnancy complaints. Call your doc & take care.
I'm 5'5, 118 pds. I'm 10 weeks preg and between morning sickness and feeling so tired, I just gained 3 pds. How many pds pre trimester should I gain?
Some variation: The general rule of thumb is a pound a week, 25 to 35 pounds for the entire pregnancy. Weight gain in the first trimester is highly variable and only a concern in cases of extremes in one direction or the other. If you have had a lot of morning sickness you may well see a relatively abrupt increase when you start to feel better.
Is normal to have no morning sickness in the first trimester? I have had some nausea but that's it
Is it normal for morning sickness to return again in the 3rd trimester. Does this mean you are having a girl?
Yes and no: Nausea often returns in the third trimester usually because the enlarged uterus causes the stomach to be displaced and sometimes compressed. The speed at which the stomach empties is also decreased in pregnancy resulting in nausea. As for the gender, it does not play a role in these symptoms and can occur with either male or female fetuses.See 1 more doctor answer
Can I take unisom sleep tabs in the first trimester? I have horrid morning sickness and it is keeping me awake at night
I am in my first trimester and my morning sickness makes drinking water intolerable. Is it safe to drink apple juice or other juices instead?
I'm in my 2nd trimester of pregnancy and my morning sickness has subdued. At night I take prenatal vitamins an hour after eating & I always feel very nauseous & I end up vomiting. Why is this happening?
Maybe iron.: Prenatal vitamins have more iron in them than regular vitamins which may be upsetting your stomach. You could taking the vitamin as half after breakfast and half after dinner to see if that helps. I'd also take it right after dinner (don't wait an hour). You could try a different brand (but they all have iron). Start with half tab twice a day with food and let me know if it helps -.

Remember: Everyone is different. There are many pregnant women who do not have much in the way of "morning sickness: so that's not too worrisome. But I'm not sure what you mean otherwise by "usual happenings".
What to do if I didn't have morning sickness my entire pregnancy, now I'm nearing my 3rd trimester and sick almost everyday?
Try reflux med: Sometimes nausea and vomiting in third trimester is from reflux (heartburn). Try avoiding spicy foods, sleep propped up or try TUMS (calcium carbonate). Digestion also slows and sometimes causes nausea. If you are unable to keep fluids down, you should see your doctor.See 1 more doctor answer
Morning sickness: Unfortunately, this is an all to common occurrence in pregnancy especially in the first trimester. Things I have found helpful in my practice are: eating frequent small meals, having something like crackers before even arising from bed, drinking liquids whenever you can, vitamin B6 1/2 of a Unisom as needed up to 4 times a day. If these don't work then your OB can give you prescription medication
