Change your diet and: Fluids. Eat a high fiber diet between 20-25 grams per day, regular meal times and drink 80-100 oz of caffeine free alcohol free fluids daily. If you exercise and should add 20 oz per 30 minutes of strenuous exercise. Some meds contribute to constipation so take the meds with full glass of fluid instead of a sip in addition to the above recommended fluids.

Sounds like milk: Sounds like milk is your problem - you may want to leave it out of your daily diet and see if the problem goes away. Add a daily calcium supplement (taken with food) daily if you need the extra calcium. If this doesn't solve the problem, make sure you are eating a healthy diet without processed foods and with plenty of fiber. Then talk to your md.

Can almond milk cause constipation?

Can almond milk cause constipation?

Not really: Almond milk doesn't in of itself cause constipation. A diet low in fluids and fiber contributes to constipation. So if having almond milk with a low fiber diet, one might find constipation. If having almond milk with a lot of fiber in the diet- like fresh fruits and vegetables- constipation should not be a problem

Does almond milk cause constipation?

Does almond milk cause constipation?

Not usually: I have not seen constipation as a result of almond milk. Dairy can be constipating as can apples or apple juice in some. Not drinking enough fluid definitley. Bananas, sweet potatoes in some are foods that can cause constipation. If stopping almond milk solves the problem and taking it again causes constipation then for you yes almond milk is constipating.

What causes constipation in babies who take only breat milk?

What causes constipation in babies who take only breat milk?

Define constipation: Breast fed kids may go a little every feed or one bulky stool every 7-10 days & if soft they are not constipated. Most formula babies go 1-2xd. Any stool that is dried out is constipation & a sign things are not moving along fast enough. Gas is from air swallowed or gas produced by gut germs. Fussy is whatever baby feels pissy about often fatigue.

Can oatmeal, sugar, and milk cause constipation?

Can oatmeal, sugar, and milk cause constipation?

Constipation: Some foods pull water into the stool (like prunes) and some foods remove water (like cereals and rice). To prevent constipation -- if you are otherwise well -- make sure you are taking in enough fluids and plenty of fruits and vegetables. Fluids in foods, tea, coffee, and water all count, but to be healthy, limit your intake of sugary drinks and alcohol.

What's the best whole milk but has to be lactose free for my 1 yr baby and that doesn't cause constipation? Or all of them cause?

What's the best whole milk but has to be lactose free for my 1 yr baby and that doesn't cause constipation? Or all of them cause?

Lactaid is one: Brand name, but there are others. 16-21 oz./ day of milk & milk products is recommended. At that amount, constipation usually isn't a problem. A word about sippy cups-they keep the tongue forward in an immature suckling position. Since the same muscles used for drinking & eating are used for speech, an open-mouthed or " commuter" cup that promotes lip closure is preferable.

Does lactose free milk cause constipation in infants? My daugther is 1 yr and she started lactaid whole milk, could this be making her constipated?

Does lactose free milk cause constipation in infants? My daugther is 1 yr and she started lactaid whole milk, could this be making her constipated?

Not likely: If the only thing that's changed is the addition of lactaid milk it's a possibilty. It depends on what else baby is eating and was eating before the switch. Breast fed babies usually have soft, frequent stools, so if you just switched from breast, i'd expect stools to be firmer. Make sure she's getting 5-9 servings of fruits and vegetables each day and the constipation should resolve.

My 16 month old is aparently lactose intolerant having loose stools she's taking whole milk, tried lactaid & cause constipation, can she take nutramigen?

Pricey solution: Soy based milk like products are lactose free & much less expensive. A 16 mo cam also get all the calcium they need from a couple of tum's /day & just drink water. The other stuff in milk can be made up by a diverse diet.

Can a 1 yr old baby take everyday any kind of fiber or miralax (polyethylene glycol) because of constipation caused by whole milk? And if yes how much the recommended dose?

Can a 1 yr old baby take everyday any kind of fiber or miralax (polyethylene glycol) because of constipation caused by whole milk? And if yes how much the recommended dose?

Diet modification: Try to increase the amount of ruins and vegetables in her diet rather than getting her started on laxatives. A good way too is to cut down on the dairy products for awhile.
