Can Masterbating Cause Brain Damage Or Cancer
I'm 18 and hear about how stress causes cancer, ages you, causes brain damage, yet I've been to so many docs and can't get my stress under control?
Cancer is a group of diseases that is characterized by uncontrolled cell growth leading to invasion of surrounding tissues that spread to other parts of the body. Cancer can begin anywhere in the body and is usually related to one or more genetic mutations that allow normal cells to become malignant by interfering with internal cellular control mechanisms, such as programmed cell death or by preventing ...Read more
Chemo brain: Chemo brain has been studied fairly well and in fact at this past years national conference a seminal study was presented that notes that chemo brain can begin even before a patient has received any chemotherapy. I'm 18 and have been dealing with major chronic stress/ptsd for 5 years/still. I'm talking very intense. Will this cause me cancer or brain damage?
Not a linear thing: "stress" is an extremely variable concept, and there are no direct or automatic links between it and cancer. There are more clear relationships between certain behaviors like smoking, alcoholism, and exposure to toxins like asbestos, and cancer -- but even these are not 100%. Chronic stress can shrink the hippocampus area of your brain at least temporarily, but this can resolve. ...Read more

I: I am sorry to hear about how poorly your sister is doing. I want to make sure I understand your question. Your sister has bowel cancer. She developed a post - operative infection and has been extremely ill. Could the infection have led to brain damage? Of course I do not know very much about your sister's complications. Sometimes an infection in the gut, can travel into the blood. Infected blood travels to the brain, where it can cause harm. Also, when a person is very sick and they undergo surgery, they can have complications with anesthesia, a lot of things can happen. As the body gets sicker it can affect organs other than just the colon, and those organs can either stop working or work poorly. It can become like a snow ball effect. I suggest that you talk to your sister's doctor and ask him or her to explain what has happened. If the doctor uses too many big, medical words, ask him or her to use plain language. I hope this is helpful. ...Read more
No. Just plain no.: One of the cults is making this claim to frighten young people. These people aren't your friends. Enjoying yourself becomes excessive when, and only when, it keeps you away from important life tasks like studying, working, learning skills, making friends, maybe finding somebody special. If it's obsessive, we can help with meds and/or talk. ...Read more

Can masterbating while I have a concussion cause brain damage? Why can't I participate in non-contact sports while recovering?
Stress and recovery: The problem with closed head injury (concussion) has to do with the poor potential for repair in nerve cells if the injury is repetative. Think of Mohamed Ali, the football players, etc. A period of reduced physical and mental stress after concussion allows for best recovery. I encourage patients not to study hard or engage in any stressful activity for a set period. Consider this and dial it back ...Read more

Yes: Seizures can be caused by brain injury, but they can also cause new injury. Lack of oxygen (anoxia) can cause brain damage. This can be from inability to breath.
