Why do so many mds assume depression/anxiety when they can't find the problem?My former md did this and missed my lupus diagnosis.I wasn't depressed!

Two sets of factors: 1) sle can present with vague symptoms of fatigue, malaise, muscle aches & joint pains that wax & wane without specific physical findings + neuropsychiatric manifestations like cognitive dysfunction, mood disorder, anxiety disorder, & psychosis. 2) hmo's/ insurance companies dictate time constraints for doctors & penalize those who order "unnecessary" tests. 1+2 = ?ed risk of misdiagnoses. ...Read more

Need more history: in that the above information is insufficient to make a specific diagnosis. How much sun exposure? Is son fair or olive skin? One joint or multiple? Injury or none? Could COPD cause anxiety attacks

Yes: Not being able to breathe is one of those things that can lead to panic. It becomes hard to tell which is the worse problem. So you could have fairly mild COPD but making you feel short of breath out of proportion to the lung problem.
