Took potassium for hypokalemia but it's been 3 days and still super dizzy?

Took potassium for hypokalemia but it's been 3 days and still super dizzy?

The cause?: Your low potassium level may well be from the vomiting and not the cause for your current symptoms. See your doctor ASAP to make sure there is nothing more serious. If you can't get an appointment today, go to an emergency room since I don't like what I am seeing.

What can cause dizziness and a low pulse rate (44-60 bpm). EKG, X-ray, blood work, CT scan are all normal except for low potassium.

Dizzy with low pulse: Hello JCortes, that's a really tough set of symptoms because there can be so many causes of dizziness. The first thing to come to my mind though when I hear low blood pressure though is medications, especially blood pressure medicine. If you're taking any medicine, prescribed or not prescribed, you should probably see your doctor or google them and check for common side effects. Good luck :)

Sudden dizziness, arms felt cold, nausea, and feeling faint, so went to ER. EKG normal, chest X-ray & brain CT & blood tests ok but low potassium. Sent home. Can Low potassium cause these symptoms?

Sudden dizziness, arms felt cold, nausea, and feeling faint, so went to ER. EKG normal, chest X-ray & brain CT & blood tests ok but low potassium. Sent home. Can Low potassium cause these symptoms?

Not likely: Your symptoms & the rapidity with which everything seems to have come on speaks in favor of what we refer to as a VASOVAGAL reaction. For some reason you suddenly had a stimulation by the Vagus Nerve of your cardiovascular system which would've dropped your blood pressure & heart rate by a fair amount. Since you were sent home from the ER I'm sure your potassium wasn't THAT LOW to be of concern.

On february 23 of 2011nowhere I went to the hospital for having low potassium. And im fully recovered, but when I drink soda I start to get dizzy why?

Unclear to me why: This should not be related to history of low potassium although you need yearly lab to make sure that you do not have that again. Why is being dizzy with soda intake? Could it be related to abdominal distension or ulcer disease? Unclear. Need to check with a doctor who knows your medical history and your vital signs to be able to get a better answer.

I have hypokalemia. Last few days I've been dizzy and muscle weakness to the point I almost fall. Could my levels be low?

Hypokalemia.: Yes, your hypokalemia can be causing the symptoms of muscle weakness. Consult your physician to check your potassium level. There are many reasons a person can have hypokalemia, it can be due to certain medications or some endocrine and metabolic disorders. In the meantime you should eat food rich in potassium e.G bananas and oranges and get the work up done for hypokalemia.

I have a low potassium problem and kidney stones problem. Is my hypokalemia the cause of my kidney stones? Or the other way?

I have a low potassium problem and kidney stones problem. Is my hypokalemia the cause of my kidney stones? Or the other way?

Unlikely: A potassium-wasting problem might be due to kidney tubular / parenchymal damage from infection related to kidney stones, but in this case you would have been told of this by your physicians. If your potassium is actually significantly below the healthy range, this is serious and no physician would let it go without a full workup. You have a right to a thorough explanation from your doctor.

Insulin 64 after high carbs and glucose 54 & hypokalemia. I'm hypokalemic PP diagnosed but wonder if congenital hyperinsulin can cause low potassium?

Insulin and carbs: Rachel, I wish I could help you but your comments are unclear. What do you mean by "insulin 64" and glucose 54? Have you been told that you have "congenital hyper-insulin"? In that case your doctor would have referred you to a surgeon. If you can, please give me some more information.

Was diagnosed with hypokalemia after taking florinef (fludrocortisone). Same day I had blood work for nt-probnp. Could low potassium cause high bnp? Mine was high

Florinef (fludrocortisone): Florinef (fludrocortisone) causes salt and fluid retention. The fluid retention may cause a rise in bnp. Suggest you discuss result with your md. Lowering of the potassium is a known side effect of Florinef (fludrocortisone) use.

Can potassium level of 3.0 cause severe dizziness, 155+ resting heart rate and trouble concentrating while having these symptoms? Thanks!

Seek medical care: A resting heart rate of 155+ is very concerning. The potassium needs to be corrected. Seek medical attention immediately. The dizziness and difficulty concentrating are symptoms of cardiac problems. Please go to the ER. Do not attempt to drive yourself there! You need an EKG and medical work-up.

High potassium, platelets, wbc, acth test low. Fever still, muscle, joint pain, dizziness, etc, chiari too. Borderline addison's.Do I have it? Hemoc poss. Y

Not likely,,,: Due to your low acth, you might have secondary adrenal insufficiency which can give many of the same symptoms, like dizziness and muscle pain. You also could have an infection as seen with your high wbc. It would be smart to see your doctor and get an acth stimulation test to see for sure if your adrenals work right.
