Can Losartan cause migraines?

Can Losartan cause migraines?

Haven't heard of it: I prescribe a lot of Losartan, and I haven't had anyone (that I know of, anyway) who got migraines from it. However, medications are a common cause of headache.

When my pts think they might be having a side effect from a med, I tell them the only solution is to see what happens when they stop it. Talk to your doc.

Good Luck.

Can losartan cause your blood pressure to rise?

Can losartan cause your blood pressure to rise?

Not directly: There are always exceptions to any case, but a "paradoxical" rise in blood pressure is difficult to explain with Losartan as the culprit. With that said, everyone reacts differently to medicines. Chances are; however, that the Losartan was inneffective, something else was working against the Losartan, or the Losartan had not yet taken effect by the time of blood pressure measurement. See PCP. ...Read more

Does Losartan cause lip swelling?

Yes, side effect: Losartan is a medication in the group known as ARB's or A2RB's (angiotensin 2 receptor blockers). They have swelling (angioedema) as a common listed adverse reaction. Can losartan cause reflux? Would stoppage get rid of the problem? Never had reflux problems before starting hbp meds. Was on lisinopril b4 same problem

GERD and losartan: I would talk to your physician (p) about starting a proton pump inhibitor, such as prilosec, to see if your reflux (r) problem is resolved with its use. Losartan-like drugs have very few adverse effects and r is not commonly known to happen. The fact that you had symptoms of r on Lisinopril is evidence that your r is not related to any BP medication. Speak to your physician for more information. ...Read more

Can long term use of hyzaar (losartan and hydrocholorthiazide) cause permanent swelling in legs?

Can long term use of hyzaar (losartan and hydrocholorthiazide) cause permanent swelling in legs?

Not from Hyzaar (losartan and hydrocholorthiazide): Hyzaar (losartan and hydrocholorthiazide) is a combination of a diuretic/water pill and an angiotensin receptor blocker/arb which is used to lower blood pressure. The constant leg swelling may mean you are retaining fluid and need a higher dose of diuretic. The arb component has a 1-3% chance of causing angioedema, episodes of swelling involving various parts of the body (unusual to only affect legs) for 24-72 hr not constantly. ...Read more
