Can a lithotripsy cause an svt?

Possible, but rare.

Shock wave lithotripsy (SWL) is a technology that uses focused sound waves to fragment kidney stones. These impulses have been shown to cause some disturbances of heart rhythm, usually provoking premature beats. These machines are now "gated", meaning that a simultaneous EKG delivers pulses at the safest moment of the cardiac cycle. SVT with ESWL has been described in the literature, but is rare.

Can kidney stone lithotripsy cause seizures?

Not typically

Kidney_stone
there is nothing inherent to this procedure which would lower a persons threshold for seizure. Individuals at risk for seizure should know that these procedures often require anesthesia and the use of those medications may change the effectiveness of anti-seizure medications. This can be discussed with the anesthesia team prior to scheduling a procedure.

Will lithotripsy procedure cause any damage to the kidney cells?

Yes, but...

Open-uri20140410-28372-1ezwf8y
Everything comes with a price; so is shockwae lithotripsy (ESWL) or any act of medical care. Experience confirmed the degree of damage is limited and usually not clinically significant within the recommended 2500-3000 shocks. Despite the consequence of Rx, practicing healthy lifestyle with no overindulgence and obsession will surely help all willing persons to live a long life.

Dr. Jack Rubin answered:

Can a kidney stone with stent and lithotripsy (2months later) cause 4th stage kidney disease?

Kidney disease

Kidney_disease
You need to see the urologist who placed the stent to get further information as soon as possible. If your kidney function was normal before the procedure, you have acute kidney disease which needs to be evaluated. If the urologist finds nothing wrong, go to a nephrologist to see if you have some kidney disease not related to your kidney stone or stent placement. See these doctors quickly.

Dr. Alan Feldman answered:

Could lithotripsy cause addison's disease or the depo birth control shot?i have a positive ANA was told I have fibermyalgia ?would a CT scan show it?

No and no

Addisons_disease
I have never heard of lithotripsy causing Addison's disease. It is not something that would show up on a CAT scan. The most common cause for Addison's disease is autoimmune, so having a positive ANA may put you at a slightly higher risk, but Addison's is very rare, and needs to be diagnosed by an endocrinologist, with laboratory testing.

I had a Cystoscopy & a Lithotripsy done the same week for a 5mm stone. Should my penis shaf still hurt and burn sometimes when I urinate. Medications,?

Yes

Micturition
LithotrIpsy pulverizes a stone but you still have to pass the sand like sediment. Instead of passing a 5mm stone, you are passing very tiny particles. This will cause pain and burning. You can also develop an infection after the procedure. Talk to your urologist if the problems continue.

Kidney stone

Kidney
A 5mm stone in a lower pole calyx is hardly an urgent matter. These stones rarely cause symptoms. Cystoscopy is likely being done for an unrelated issue. (hematuria?). Still, ESWL is the preferred treatment for renal stones in a non-obstructing position.

What are some advantages of lithotripsy?

Quicker recovery

Lithotripsy
In the old days, we did open surgery for stones where we made an incision and removed the stone. You were typically in the hospital a few days and had to recover from the incision. With ESWL, you are normally treated as an outpatient and able to return to work in a couple of days.

Lithotripsy is the process by which stones in the urinary tract are broken into small fragments. 'Lithotripsy surgery' are procedures where small instruments are used to deliver mechanical, electro-hydraulic, or laser disruption of stones. Access is gained through the bladder (cystoscopy, ureteroscopy), a small flank incision (PCNL), or sometimes by laparoscopy.

Can you have lithotripsy while you are menopausal?

Sure

Vascular_conditions
There are no contraindications to lithotripsy with menopause. Menopause is a state that women will be in for many years. IT can increase her risk of heart disease but physicians are looking for more detrimental disease processes such as diabetes, blood pressure, heart disease, strokes, vascular disease when assessing surgical risk
