Bundle Branch Block (Definition)

There are 2 main branches of the heart's electrical system within the ventricles, the right bundle branch and the left bundle branch. Additionally, the left bundle branch has two sub-branches, the antero-superior fascicle and the posteroinferior fascicle. When one or more branches are disrupted, the resultant electrical abnormalities can be ...Read more

Can chemotherapy cause left bundle branch block?

Can chemotherapy cause left bundle branch block?

Sometimes: A left bundle branch block is a finding on an EKG ( the electrical tracing of your heart.) it shows that something has altered the way your heart conducts electrical impulses. Chemotherapy can do it, but so can heart disease. Your doctor should rule out other causes for a left bundle branch block before assuming chemotherapy is the cause. ...Read more

I have congestive heart failure with a 30% ejection fraction, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy , and left bundle branch block is it safe for me to fly?

I have congestive heart failure with a 30% ejection fraction, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy , and left bundle branch block is it safe for me to fly?

Depends: It depends on your overall health. Do you have an icd, are you on daily oxygen, daily medications, can you sit for exended lengths of time, how long is the flight? Commercial airlines have cabin pressures set to about 7000ft. So if you can tolerate that altitude (denver is about 5600ft), air travel may be ok. Discuss with your doctor. Tsa will need to know if you have an icd. ...Read more

Can bundle branch block be fatal?

Not usually: Right bundle branch block is pretty benign. Most cases of left bundle branch block are associated with significant heart disease. It is the severity of that heart disease and the type of disease which could lead to a fatal outcome. The bundle branch block itself is not likely to be fatal. If it progressed to complete heart block, then a pacemaker would be needed and conceivably it could be fatal. ...Read more

Is left bundle branch block reversible?

Yes: It is sometimes seen intermittently. It can be present on an EKG and not on one done at a later date. At times it occurs when the heart is beating fast but not with slower heart rates. ...Read more

What are differences between left bundle branch block and right bundle branch block?

What are differences between left bundle branch block and right bundle branch block?

The location: Obviously the location of the electrical block in the conduction of electric impulses from the atrium to the ventricles is different. The electrical signals travel to the two ventricles through the left and the right bundle, the left then bifurcates to two fascicles itself. In my experience, the non-pathologic presence of right bundle branch block is more common. ...Read more

Is heart block the same as rate related left bundle branch block?

Not the same: Both are types of fatigue in the heart's wiring system. 1st degree heart block is when there is a delay in the signal getting from atria down to ventricles. That's minor. In more advanced heart block, some beats dont get through at all. In lbbb, there is no block between atria + ventricles but there is a delay in the signal spreading within the ventricles, which doesnt cause symptoms by itself. ...Read more

Can you explain incomplete right bundle branch block?

Can you explain incomplete right bundle branch block?

Mild condabrupt prob: The righty and left ventricles are induced to beat through electrochemical currents transmitted through the right and left bundle branches, respectively. Irbbb means part of the right bundle is not transmitting fully. It is a benign condition of no significant clinical consequence. ...Read more

What are causes of left bundle branch block?

What are causes of left bundle branch block?

Various causes: Left bundle branch block is a pattern seen on an EKG indicating an abnormal or different pathway of the electrical signal that causes the heart muscle to contract. It is most often due to an underlying medical condition such as hypertension, a heart attack, an enlarged heart from any cause and only when serious conditions are excluded is it felt due to the benign aging of the conduction pathway. ...Read more

Why are left bundle branch blocks worse than right bundle branch blocks?

Why are left bundle branch blocks worse than right bundle branch blocks?

The cause important: The right bundle is relatively easy to damage, so relatively small injuries can create it. The left bundles (two of them, one easy to injure, one hard to damage) require more damage to interfere with their function, so they are associated with "worse" heart disease with the prognosis inherent in your question. Cause is important, so need to talk to your doctors to sort those out. ...Read more

Left fascicular block treatment and cause?

No treatment: Left fascicular block is due to slow conduction in one of the two branches of the left bundle . There is the anterior fascicle and the posterior fascicle . The causes of fascicular block is varied from idiopathic or unknown to different diseases of the heart .By in itself it does not cause any problem but a mere indication of abnormality in the electrical conduction ...Read more
