Diet modification: You can have your urine analyzed for kidney stone risk factors. My usual recommendations are 1) increase plain water to at least 2 liters a day 2) decrease sodium intake 3) decrease animal protein intake 4) add a teaspoon of real lemon juice to diet daily.

Pregnancy test: Renal stone is not a cause of missed period. If you had sex since your last period, do a pregnancy test. If the result is negative repeat the test 4-5 days later unless you get a period by then. Use first morning urine and follow the instructions for the test carefully. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time, every time. You may consider implanted contraceptive, or IUD. Practice safe sex. Get HPV vaccine.

Late menses: It is possible your hormonal cycles were disrupted a bit by the stone removal procedure; this does happen; you can wait it out or let your GYN know in case pregnancy is possible or in case a hormone manipulation is needed for you.

I got my kidney stones out and stent out in 4 days ago. I'm having my stent removed tomorrow, I'm on my period. Will it hurt?

I got my kidney stones out and stent out in 4 days ago. I'm having my stent removed tomorrow, I'm on my period. Will it hurt?

Somewhat: Removing the stent will cause some ureteral spasm and discomfort. I would recommend taking some Ibuprofen (if okay for you to take) about 45 minutes prior to removing your stent. The discomfort may persist for about 24 hours. Try drinking lots of fluids, most people are happy to get the stent out!
