I haven't seen this: I haven't seen iron supplements directly cause depression. However, I've seen people who are anemic from various causes, be depressed. If the anemia is an iron-deficiency one, replenishing iron (through iron supplements) generally helps. Why taking iron?: Vit d helps calcium absorption so it's fine to take together (though if your blood level's ok it's not necessary). While it's safe to take iron at the same time, minerals can compete for absorption so it might be best to take at a different time than calcium. Vit c improves iron absorption. If you truly had an iron test as opposed to cbc (more common) you may need iron, however before starting it is advisable to get other tests done, including TIBC and ferritin.
