What to do if I had a C-section 9 weeks ago and got put on iron pills is it normal to still be bleeding?

Not normal: Bleeding 9 weeks after a c/section is not normal. Taking iron pills will help make up for the loss of iron from the bleeding, but will not stop the bleeding. The cause of the bleeding ought to be investigated by an obstetrician/gynecologist.

I used to take iron pills, then I stopped for a month. Now my period is 5 days late?

I used to take iron pills, then I stopped for a month. Now my period is 5 days late?

Pregnancy test: Home pregnancy tests are very accurate. They are the same tests used in a doctors office. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period. If you doubt the result you can repeat it in 1-2 days. If you were pregnant the hormone level would rise enough for detection. Taking iron pills has nothing to do with this.

Would iron pills help irregular periods and often brown discharge?

Depends...: Iron pills would only be helpful if you actually have iron deficiency anemia. If you have heavy periods then you may develop iron deficiency anemia. Your doctor can do a blood test to determine of you have iron deficiency anemia so see your doctor for testing if you are concerned. Good luck!!!

Does taking iron pills help lighten my period? And if not. Are there any remedies besides birth control that will help?

No: Iron helps you prevent your blood count from getting too low. The best way to fix your periods is to find out why they are heavy. You should be evaluated for hormonal and anatomical reasons for heavy periods. The cause is the best clue to provide the most effective treatment.

Check w/ your doctor: Most people don't need to take iron pills unless suggested by their physician. Research foods that are rich in iron if you need to supplement. Phobias can be managed with cognitive-behavioral therapy so you don't have to go through life in fear.
