Body temp fluctuates between 97.7 - 100.5 degrees with quick changes for the last 4 weeks. There is no infection present (low crp, normal leuko count)?

Likely normal: Body temperature commonly fluctuates from a lower point around 6 am to a higher point around 4 pm. This change is part of the normal biorhythms of the body. It may correspond to the effect of inactivity in sleep vs activity during the day. ...Read more

Infection (Definition)

Infections are invasions of some other organism (fungus, bacteria, parasite) or viruses into places where they do not belong. For instance, we have normal gut bacteria that live within us without causing problems; however, when those penetrate the bowel wall and enter the bloodstream, ...Read more

What will cause a higher body temp and a really itchy vagina? I did have black hairy tongue, could that cause an infection in my vagina?

Black hairy tongue: A black hairy tongue is a harmless condition thought to be caused by a buildup of bacteria. The discoloration can be caused by poor oral hygiene, smoking, coffee and tea, dry mouth, and diseases that disrupt the normal bacteria in the mouth.

My body temp. Measured orally is between 96.8degs. F&97.2degs. F.This is below the normal temp. Which is 98.6 degs. F. Do I have infection or a problem?

Normal temperature: You misunderstand normal temperature. 98.6 is the average in testing hundreds of people; and it's also roughly the average in most individuals whose temperatures are measured several times through the day and night. Everybody's temp is sometimes as low as 96.0 or as high as about 99.6. The temperatures you report in this question do not indicate a health problem of any kind. ...Read more

Is it normal for body temp to drop to 96.1 and 96.3 if you have a dental infection? My normal temp is 98.3

Yes: The normal body temperature can vary by as much as 3.5 degrees throughout the 24 hour cycle. With infection it can either go up, remain the same, or even go down. Dental infections usually don't cause a fever until they get fairly severe. The Clindamycin you're using should be effective. ...Read more

I have stage 4 COPD and in the hospital. My body temp has dropped from 97.6 to 96.2 is that normal even with an infection?

Possibly.: Low temperatures are sometimes indicative of infection just like high temperatures. That temperature is not one to worry about though, it likely is just normal fluctuation and will improve. In general doctors are wise to be vigilant for infection when seeing low temperatures, although yours is not that low so I wouldn't worry too much about it. ...Read more

I took Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) to treat UTI for three days. I am worse. Now have Vomiting, nausea, cramps, burning urination, fever, and low temps of 96.4. What could this be? Could it be a kidney infection?

I took Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) to treat UTI for three days. I am worse. Now have Vomiting, nausea, cramps, burning urination, fever, and low temps of 96.4. What could this be? Could it be a kidney infection?

Worsening UTI: Yes, these could be signs of a kidney infection, or a bladder infection that is not sensitive to Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim). The prescribing doctor needs to hear about this immediately, because someone who is vomiting cannot keep down further meds. They will probably arrange a late add-in clinic appointment or ER visit. ...Read more

What do increasingly frequent night sweats with lower body temp (36.0C oral) & no obvious infection (ESR normal) suggest please?

What do increasingly frequent night sweats with lower body temp (36.0C oral) & no obvious infection (ESR normal) suggest please?

Ans: Could consider many things. It sound like you had blood work so this is good. Need a good history from you. Your temp could be low because you do not drink enough water. Start hydrating and exercising as you tolerate to get the body moving. Now you are of the age where you have to be monitored. The flushing is an issue. Have a good cardiac exam and if this is normal. Stay with regular visits ...Read more

Both my kids have a viral infection. They were prescribed amoxicillin and prednisolone. Their body temp is reading 96°f auxiliary. Is this normal?

Odd treatment: Viruses don't respond to antibiotics, so it is unclear why they are being used. Axillary temps are generally at least a degree below core temperature. I wouldn't consider it anything bad. ...Read more

Enterovirus infection last week. No temp since Sunday. Today, little queasy and low grade fever (99.5). Otherwise ok. Same infection? Still contagious?

2 year old had convulsion raised temp no infection or virus well in self brother had epilepsy till 10 could he be prone to it what could cause temp?

Seizure w/fever: It I possible that a seizure can cause a rise in temperature if it involves the area of the brain that servies as a thermostat. Given your other child's history of seizures, I would be careful calling this a febsimple febrile seizure. Your child should have a complete evaluation for epilepsy. ...Read more

My grandson, 2 yrs old, has a temp of 95.7, what could cause this? The Urgent Care says possible ear infection.

Not fever: Normal temp is usually 98.0-99.6. Common causes for a low temp are thermometer malfunction, mouthbreathing, cold air exposure, early URI -uncommon) and hypothyroidism (rare). I don't think I have ever seen an ear infection cause a low temperature ...Read more

My toddler is taking cefdinir for an ear infection following a bad cold. Can that lower his body temp at night to around 96?

Temperature: The antibiotic will clear the infection, which, once it is clearing, the fever he once had will reduce, but the antibiotic should not make him get hypothermic. He is probably normal and it is a fluctuation in his temperature or a poor or inaccurate reading. Besides temperature, make sure your child is behaving normally and responsive to you regardless of his temperature. ...Read more

3 yr old Dx w ear infecton ystrday Took 2nd dose of xithro today. Temp spikes over 105 once motrin wears off. Ear infection can cause this high temp?

Viral syndrome: 105 is Avery high temp even for a 3 yr old, my recipe for high temps is alternating Tylenol (acetaminophen) and Motrin at recommended doses every 4 hours, push clear liquids, consider better antibiotic coverage like augmentin or at least take to pediatrician for second look or discuss on phone for next steps, this fever is too high to leave alone ...Read more
