How long should I wait to wear contacts with pink eye?

How long should I wait to wear contacts with pink eye?

Till it's over: Your doctor should instruct you to stop wearing your contact lenses until your pink eye has completely resolved. Whether viral or bacterial, the critters causing your pink eye can survive on your contacts and reinfect you. Better yet, throw out that pair and start a fresh pair after your pink eye has resolved. But don't start wearing contact lenses again until after your pink eye has resolved.

No contacts for now: Not until done with antibiotic drops prescribed, if that is the medicine, and symptoms completely gone. Err on the side of not wearing them longer than necessary to prevent corneal infections which can be severe.

Once: Once all symptoms of conjunctivits (pink eye) are clear, contact lens wear can usually be resumed. Old contacts, contact lens case, and solution should be discarded to minimize risk of re-infection. Redness, pain, blurred vision, watery or mucous discharge are common symptoms of pink eye.

Dry eyes: It sounds like you have dry eyes. That discharge is actually the mucous in your tears that is leftover after the water content in your tears dry up. Try using artificial tears 4 times a day. Taking fish oil or omega-3 supplements orally (at least 2000 mg a day) is also helpful.

Can you tell me if I could wear contact lenses while I have pink eye?

Can you tell me if I could wear contact lenses while I have pink eye?

Not a good idea: The eye needs unobstructed flow of tears to combat infections like pink eye. Wearing a contact can inhibit this and possibly encourage other types of infection to occur. Hang in there without the lens until the condition clears.

Break from contacts: It is always a good idea to take a break from contact lenses until your eyes feel normal again. Also, if there is any associated iritation/redness/infection during the time you were wearing the lenses, it is a good idea to start with a new pair and replace the case. If any decrease in vision/pain/persistent redness then get an eye exam to make sure its not an ulcer

I've been using eye drops for pink eye since saturday am symptom free but have two more days of drops. Can I wear my contacts? Will the drops hurt?

Complete treatment: I would recommend holding off on contacts until you have completed the prescribed treatment course. Conjunctivitis (pink eye) can be highly contagious and wearing your contacts too soon could lead to re-infection. Wait a couple more days to be safe.

I have pink eye and the Dr gave me drops for them how long til it clears up and can I put my contacts back in if I disinfected them after it clears up?

Conjunctivitis: A pink eye can be due to many things. Classically a "pink eye" is due to viral conjunctivitis and can be very contagious with severe itchiness. It can take 12h-3d for sx to appear and takes 2wks to resolve. Avoid contact lenses with any red eye as can lead to worsening infection and scar tissue on cornea. Eyedoc2020.Blogspot. Com.
